The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

He's gorgeous.... looks like a surfer. But I heard he got married, and that she is a dressage rider who keeps him on a very short rein. I would have let him run loose as long as he came back home once in a while! ;~D

You could have ribbed me about the other time Logan chewed up a fresh deer skin and got all constipated.... poor guy.

Well, after x-raying Logan to make sure there was nothing sharp like horns or hooves inside, I got to help him give Logan the power enema and walk him.... We talked and walked, and inspected Logan's output for a good half hour! It was heaven....

Or you could have ribbed me about how I told my friends I would take their dogs to the vet for them if they were too busy!

You guys made me think of something funny, or maybe sad.

My daughter is 20 and my son 23, I can no longer keep them in a box, but wish so much I could, they are old enough now to be independent, least they think so.

Yet, when I married Jeanne, she was only 22, and back then, I wanted to keep her in a box too, but she let me know right away how wrong that was, and I understood, though I did not really like it.

I still would like them all in a box, but if they were in one, I could never be proud of their deeds or even their love for me, or anything else they do.

NOW we know. Good information. Say, were you the inspiration for the car key pooping dog in the movie "Gone in 60 Seconds?"

So, are we sure the dude is married to the bimbo?

But, then, the Dean tells me that I will teach the one class with 8 students and only get paid 80% pay for that one class.

I assume the students only pay 80% tuition, too?

You are so right Sam. I have found that the hardest thing was to let the first kid go. She pushed it but it didn't make it any easier.

And now, some of the things I'm proudest of her for were things I wouldn't have put in her schedule of life.

Myranda is completely surprising too. She's gone through so many changes just in the year and a half that we've been in north Texas. She isn't the same young lady that was scared to move to this little city. And those changes have been really good.

Tuition was raised don't cha know. State budget cuts. Raise tuition. Cut teacher pay. Eliminate small classes.

The student center at the campus 70 miles from here had a $150,000 redecorating job done last year though. I couldn't really tell the difference until somebody pointed out to me the fabric hangings from the ceiling and wall. Expensive fabric.
