The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Bear's using a pretend-browser, that is why he has trouble! ;~D

Got your mail. Thanks for what you are doing!

Yes, my 20 year old baby makes me happy, too. And she never stays around for long. Jeanne and me are lonely when the kids are gone.
Your teaching job is changing?
To: HairOfTheDog
How's Bay's workout?
Is his shoulder loosening easier?
I was a lawnmowin', weed-whackin' fool today. Really a fool. My lawnmower is broken. With the pay loss I sure won't get a new one this year. I borrowed the one from the school. Only thing was it's supposed to have a bagger on the back but it wasn't there. So, all the stuff was blowing out the back right into my legs, arms, face. I had on safety glasses and heavy heavy clothing (fortunately). But, I am hurting now. Big red whelts on my legs in several places. The weed whackin' was a breeze after the lawn mowin'.

My browser is perfectly valid... it even has some neat properties, like a setting to prevent unsolicited pop-up windows from being spawned. I just need to get it updated to fix this particular glitch that it has...
My message count is set to 50/page, but when we get our cable modem set up I may set that higher...

Hello, Hair, comment ca va?
The toast went well, I am a quiet person and don't make them so well, but I did a good job anyway, and projected well, from the stage, the couple were happy and pleased, along with a couple hundred guests.

Hi, Bear, how are you?
Should we all get your browser?
To: Sam Cree
Your teaching job is changing? It seems to be dwindling. This summer I was supposed to teach 2 classes. I had 3 students register for one class and 8 for the other class. 10 is the required number. Therefore, I wasn't going to teach anything and thought I'd just go home and find a job there. But, then, the Dean tells me that I will teach the one class with 8 students and only get paid 80% pay for that one class. Of course, that's after half the pay is gone from the second class. My co-instructor quit. I was glad he could. He's single in his 20's. He can make it if he has to go to Burger King. I need something a little more substantial to keep up this high-falutin' life I live. (That would be the house payment.)

To: Sam Cree; HairOfTheDog
Hi Sam!
I'm doing ok thanks. Was glad to hear your wedding toast went well!
I wouldn't recommend anyone else here getting the browser I use (it's called Opera, by the way)... Hair will make fun of you if you do.

Yeah, I'll be okay. I'm lookin' for another job for a real job AND I'm looking for something temporary to supplement this measly little class.
I had a really tough time getting my attitude civil to go in and start teaching that class this morning. And of course it has nothing to do with the students. I just have a bad attitude right now.

I use a browser called Opera. Since it's not produced by Microsoft, Hair thinks it's not real...

Darling, it is not safe to used a rear-bagger without the bag!
Bay did not do well today... he was noticably limping. I think I overdid it yesterday, so I quit after a few minutes and just played with them a bit. I took his halter off and he would nudge me for rubs and scratches. The pony was jealous but wouldn't let me touch her and kept running off, so I chased her. Her hormones are raging still and it's fun to just p*ss her off! ;~D.
As for Bay, I have a call in to my most knowledgeable horse friend and a to different vet in town known to me to be very good with lamenesses. I like my regular horse vet, but I am not ready to face him yet after the Zulu debacle (just don't want to be reminded about it) and this other vet is extraordinarily sweet. I knew him when he first got out of vet school and I took the dogs to him if they so much as slept late.... man what a doll.
But I was told last week that he was back in town and opening his own horse practice, and he is the one who years ago spent an hour watching Logan work when he was limping while hunting. Had to re-create the situation because he wouldn't show any signs till he was tired.
Anyhow, he was very nice and very thorough... my regular vet is very minimalist. He likes to just take a "wait and see" approach, which is nice for saving money rather than expensive tests, but not the best when I want to find answers fast.

somebody's gonna disagree but I have always known there was just something wrong with opera. yeesh.

Well, I'm sorry to hear that Bay's down tonight. He's got the best of company though! So, is this vet coming out to your house? Is he cute? Is he single? LOL
