The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I dunno...I feel kind of "perky" actually! LOL! Good for you!!! I'm tickled that we've got at least 3 of our guys here today. Corin, LCS and Bear!

Besides you can't wear capri pants and flip flops to feed the chickins...Well, now this is true!

I am once again reminded of my elderly status, when I see these young girls with children the same age as Joshua, slim and wearing stylish up to date clothes. Then they expected us to sit on the FLOOR! Oh, my poor knees. Then I couldn't hear anything! I didn't get it right with either of my kids. I was the young kid when Jill was in school and I was the old one when Myranda got there. I didn't fit either time!

Oh yeah, before I go. I've updated my blog. I need traffic (url is in the tag line).

The one she is bringing is blue. I don't know if our soil will change that or not. It will.... their color is based on the acidity of the soil.
My grandmothers big one at the beach house was always pink, but I think she must have been treating the soil to keep it that way all those years.... because left alone, it got more and more lavender the last couple years, and now it is very definately blue.

1) Iris - where the heck do I plant them? Can my m-i-l dig hers up this weekend and bring them to my house w/o major problems? I don't think you will have a problem moving your irises now. I moved mine in July. They get about 2 feet tall so don't plant them where they will hide something else. I have had them do well in both the sun and shade but seem to do a little better in the sun.
2) Mums - I planted some mums last year and a few this year. Can I move them now? And will they really bloom again this season? I'm thinking even of potting them until the fall when I'll have a better idea of where I want them.
When you dig your mums just be sure and do it gently and try to hit an overcast or cooler day. (I know not so many of them lately) They would probably really like to be in pots until fall long as you keep 'em watered.
I don't know about the hydrangeas but I trust what you've heard. It sounds like just the ticket.

PS. Just keep the mint watered. If you need more let me know, mine is recovering from the rust nicely.

LOL
But I swear, I would never have thought to put yellow flip flops with a pair of pink flowered capri pants! I have no fashion sense!
That one may be my daugher that was SUPPOSED to be in Germany till you saw her in the library just then!!!!
To: HairOfTheDog
Found this in a search for photos about too much water.BTW, I was at the library and was checking out the new computers and was astounded with how blazingly fast they were. I decided to check out Free Republic and commented to Matthew when I saw that another homeschool kid had won the Geography Bee again. A woman was sitting beside me and said she homeschooled too and belonged to a Proverbs something-or-other homeschool group. Just about that time, I clicked on the Hobbit Hole and this is the post I came up on. I could have died.

To: 2Jedismom
I swear! - They never post stuff like that!
To: HairOfTheDog
Actually, I'm laughing about it now. The kids didn't see it. And I'll likely never see that woman again.

I know this might seem repetative but I just got an email reply from Jill. I had emailed her the prayers from yesterday. This is her reply to me:
Please let everyone know that I feel 110% better today, I have put laundry away & washed a few dishes. The antibiotics really did the trick & by the way, I did not take those nausea pills anymore & I haven't need to. Please tell them thank you from me for all of their prayers & support. Please send a prayer up for Emily, she has been running a low grade fever all day today. I know it is God who made me well, so that I can take care of Emmy. Love & hugs, Jill
So, thanks again. I just wanted you to hear it from her.
To: 2Jedismom
You might see pertinere anythin' in the Hobbit Hole thread.
To: Wneighbor
That's wonderful, WN! Isn't it great to have email? How did people live without it?

Oh good! Glad she is over this hurdle... - I am still worried that she doesn't have a good friend to help if she gets sick.
