Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Press Elf Ari Fleischer is going to resign as of July sometime. Wants a different job.... and now was a good time to go. War is settling down, and if he hung around too much longer, the change would disrupt the campaign.

Now that I've caught up on posts, it is more clear than ever just why my chicken with head cut off comment fit.
Oh, BTW, Grama's boyfriend raised chickens. 2 things make the yolks lighter according to Henry. If they only eat chicken feed there will be little color.... like most of the eggs you get in the store come from chickens that only eat feed. The other thing is if they're stored a long time before selling. The yolks fade with time. So, does that mean they become wraiths? Did you have wraith eggs?
But, they aren't bad. They supposedly (???) still have all the protein and nutritional value.

Well, it didn't kill me, but it was easily half as yellow as the others, and I think the darker yellow ones were what I usually see.

I think I was vaguely aware of a drama unfolding a month or more ago, but i didn't pay attention..... anyone know the details?

IMO - Ari is probably leaving at a great time for his personal career. I've heard many people compliment his abilities in the last few months. He's made quite an impression even on some of us who don't particularly pay attention to press briefings. At this time he will probably find something quite lucrative in the private sector.
OTOH - Corin, you were looking for a new job weren't you?

I'm sure there's a thread (or twenty) around here somewhere. I vaguely recall it being around the time of the war and there was a lot of discussion about the fact that Helen was in the back of the room and did not get called on for a question. Can't remember if it was Ari or the President.
But it was an obvious (and well deserved) snub. That's about all I remember.

OTOH - Corin, you were looking for a new job weren't you? HA! Corin is not an in-the-spotlight kind of dwarf. I can sit here and sling it out all day through the keyboard. But put me in front of an audience without a script and my mind goes absolutely blank. And yes, I was a Speech Communications major.
Besides, Corin is not enough of a team player. He has frequently told his superiors to blow it out their shorts...only he wasn't that polite.
Maybe that's why he's stuck where he is...

I came in to work this morning because some of the members of the Republican party asked me for copies of the photos I took last week. I couldn't get them to email at home. I thought it was bandwidth. I copied them to disks and brought them up here. They still don't work. I'm frustrated.
And on top of that, when I got here, there were a pile of messages and 405 emails after I deleted the junk. UGH.
I'm fixing to go home and resume my vacation. This is mad.
