Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

so, the militia dudes. Any of 'em look like elves? No, unfortunately, most of them look more like dwarves, and I am afraid they probably don't smell good.
To: HairOfTheDog
HEY!!! I've been there!!!
Yep, those riding photos. I was figuring there must be woods someplace around Ellensburg that I didn't know about. So, I figured you lived a ways away. Where I lived near the Pres. people didn't know there was a hilly wooded terrain in that part of Texas. You had to turn off the major highways and know where to go. I kind of figured you must have found a place like that for me to be seeing the photos I've seen. LOL
Now, though, I know you are REALLY close to my grand-daughter. If I get a chance to fly up and see her we will have to go visit you - horse or no horse, you would be too close to miss.
To: Corin Stormhands
maybe it's that I never read the comic books or watched the show.I just don't get it.
Well, reading the comic book would have helped... not sure if watching the animated show would have; I never watched it, and I think Bryan Singer (director) based the movie more on the original comics anyway.
Any questions I could help with?

Now, though, I know you are REALLY close to my grand-daughter. If I get a chance to fly up and see her we will have to go visit you - horse or no horse, you would be too close to miss. Portland is two hours from here.... And I would love to have company!

Any questions I could help with? It sounded like to me the first question is, "How do we keep Corin awake during the movie?"
I wonder if this is foreshadowing of our movie watching at entmoot?
To: Wneighbor
If he snores we'll throw ice at him.
To: HairOfTheDog
Well, yesterday when we were talking and I was thinking you were east of the mountains. That would be too far for me to drive because if I come it will only be for 2 or 3 days. But, now............
I will have to put this into the formula! Coming to visit you would be a lot more fun than just sitting in my motel room or me trying to find any local places to bond.
I don't have plans or money to come right now. But, it is one of the things on my to-do list after Myranda moves out. This just makes it better.
To: HairOfTheDog
If he snores we'll throw ice at him. Throw ice? Or toss ice? A new kind of dwarf tossing?
To: Wneighbor
Well, maybe the subject matter of the movie had something to do with it. I don't know how appealing the X-Men movies are to someone who isn't a fan to begin with.
Being a fan to begin with, the "rightness" of the adaptation was as striking to me as the "rightness" of the LOTR adaptation. Sure, minor details were changed, but they got the basics of the characters and situations correct, and that was very pleasing.

But, it is one of the things on my to-do list after Myranda moves out.
To: HairOfTheDog
WOW!!! I feel welcome already. I better get cracking and find an extra job.
I'm actually going down to the Home Depot tomorrow morning and seeing about a part-time job for the summer. I only teach 2 days a week this summer and that's only from 8:30 to noon. The Home Depot opens June 1. It's only 6 blocks from my house and there's a sign that says they're hiring now. Thought I'd check it out. That would give me entmoot money AND grandchild visit money.
To: HairOfTheDog; Bear_in_RoseBear
Well ya'll, I'm going to bed now. Despite being on vacation, I have to get up early in the morning to take Myranda to school.
then i can come home and go back to sleep for an hour or so before i go to home depot.
To: Wneighbor
I am going to bed soon too! Good night!
To: Wneighbor
I was going to try planting unkillables there first.I can always send you some wire grass. :)
Good Morning!

No, unfortunately, most of them look more like dwarves, and I am afraid they probably don't smell good. And that's a problem because......?!?!?!?!?!?
Hullo! Good morning!
Prayers for Mr. and Mrs. g'nad today. And the little giblet.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear; Wneighbor; JenB; ksen
Any questions I could help with? Well, actually I think I eventually followed the story. This may be somewhat blasphemous, but what I didn't "get" was the uh...er....um...the appeal...
Almost made me think "a love scene with Anakin and Amidala would fit nicely here..."
ducking for cover...
To: Wneighbor
It sounded like to me the first question is, "How do we keep Corin awake during the movie?"...I wonder if this is foreshadowing of our movie watching at entmoot? Well, the g'nad's may disagree with you since I fell asleep during the cookie presentation at Dwarf-moot. But I should be okay with a crowd. Unless of course, we have to watch without talking.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear; Wneighbor; HairOfTheDog
Well, maybe the subject matter of the movie had something to do with it. Um...er...uh...have I mentioned that since we've owned it, I've yet to make it all the way through the FOTR SE?
To: Corin Stormhands
Funkle posts and Mondays always get me down...

Good morning! Thanks everyone for the Mother's Day well-wishes!
Remember last year I got a pink towel set and some "Moonlight Path" shower gel? Yesterday I used the LAST of that shower gel!
This year, I got a new reel! 20lb line on it for fishing for channel catfish! Steve re-furbished and stocked my tacklebox too! It has everything you could imagine.
We went fishing yesterday afternoon and caught one small panfish. We threaded a cord through it, and as we were sitting there, it flapped around at our feet in the shallow water. Along came a SNAKE and actually bit it and started hauling it off! Steve jumped up and reminded me for all the world of Sam and the Watcher in the water as he hacked away at the snake with our little pan fish with a stick! It was funny, a tug-of-war with the snake!
We let it go after that...I wouldn't eat it after it had been bit by snake.
I love to fish! I had the best Mother's Day! I'm taking the boys fishing again after breakfast!
