The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Very cool! I've heard the special edition has lots of extra stuff to watch.

By the way, relieved to hear the tornado bypassed you, as well. So far the HH'ers are batting 1.000!

Thanks for the prayers. Crisis averted for the moment. What I was saying that I might have to offer is a place to live. And I didn't have to. But, I knew I might need to when I called back. And, sorry ya'll, but I'm NOT that much of a people person and I really like my privacy when I'm home. But, at any rate, she is extremely depressed and I think I got her in touch with someone back home that can help so with God involved this is taken care of.

I couldn't find a picture in Google but I've seen it in the movie. It's at the beginning of the pace lap going into turn 1 at the top of the screen.

By happy coincidence, TCM had "Ben Hur" on tonight. I think that was a camera car that had been taking closeups, and was then pulling out of the way. It was caught by the camera up in the stadium, and they probably decided to leave it in, hoping nobody would notice. In that same scene, the five parade horses were missing, but they reappeared in the next scene.

I don't know how many days it took to shoot all the scenes, but it must have been a costly project. Some of the action was speeded up, but just getting all those horses and drivers on the set for the parade lap was quite an acomplishment.

Looks like this may be a bad one... one of the local Austin TV channels is tapping into the live feed from KOCO-TV in OK City.

Hope it dissipates again, before it reaches Tulsa!

I'm over here...monitoring.

Sounds like it's coming up the turnpike which is way north of me...toward the North Tulsa area. I live south.

That's good...that's what it did last night.

In '99, the storms made it all the way to Sapulpa...we were crouched down in our garage, where it stepped down slightly...holding both boys in our arms.

See the red line going up from OKC to Tulsa? That's the Turner Turnpike...if it stays north of it, we're fine. Right now there is a tornado on the ground 3 miles south of it, but that is still north of us...see that little blue speck below and slightly to the left of the + that marks Tulsa? That's about where I live.

That big county just to the east of Tulsa county is Creek county...has the Turner Turnpike running right through it. That's where Sapulpa is.

For those of you that actually know where I live, the Turner Turnpike is also Highway 44 which comes up from OKC...you can find my town on the map below...

:-)I've been to Sepulpa!

Well, I've been to Tulsa too, but Sepulpa was special because there was my twin's brother.

Well, the Tylenol Allergy Sinus I took awhile ago has kicked in, making it hard for me to keep my eyes open. I'm going to give up and go to bed.

Stay safe! and good night!
