Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I laughed to myself (upon seeing Morgan Freeman as God) because I kept thinking "Hey! That doesn't look like George Burns!"
I can just never get those "Oh God!" movies out of my head. Burns will always be typecast in my head! LOL!
But back to the point, Bruce Almighty looks like a real stinker!

The final cut of the third movie is in the can, finished, done, over with. All that's left to do is music and ADR.WHAT!? What's PJ gonna do with himself for a whole year if RoTK is nearly finished? How long does it usually take to do ADR (Additional Dialogue Recording?) and the soundtrack?

Maybe you could ask the Admin Moderator to lock the old hole up for us.

I'm sorry to have to ask you this. I am on the Yahoo Hobbit Hole. But, where do I go to sign up? I am planning to come.
To: Corin Stormhands
Amen on the heresy note. I don't think I'd want to answer to the Almighty for that one.
To: Wneighbor
Go to the Yahoo hole and look at "Polls"!
To: HairOfTheDog
I have voted.
I am in the want to come category (and I put my preference for the weekend). But I've got a lot of 'splaining to do. Maybe if I tell the Mrs. it's a father/son bonding thing for me and Jr. we can do a road trip...(of course if was the next weekend, it would've been a four day weekend for me...it's a Virginia thing...)
To: ksen
I could ask, but I asked to lock the original Hobbit Hole and move it to the GI forum so we could file it, and neither of those things happened!
To: HairOfTheDog
I voted! Whew! It feels good to do something final!
I hope Steve's up for the adventure! He already knows about it. Maybe by then we'll feel comfortable leaving the boys for those few days with my parents...maybe.
To: Corin Stormhands
You have a year to do the 'splainin'.... best get started!
To: HairOfTheDog
Duh. Okay, I found it. I voted. Does that mean I'm signed up now?
To: HairOfTheDog
Did you like the "Oh God" movie with George Burns? That one was okay, it took some liberties, but was still pretty tame. But I think "Bruce Almighty" is all about ridicule.
To: Wneighbor
As signed up as we get around here... we are just trying to predict attendance. It is not a binding contract! - Yet! Ha!
To: Corin Stormhands
I will not be seeing it! - I was curious to know if it was the theme or the tone that bothered you.
To: HairOfTheDog
I think I ought to be bound!!
Next year is my first year alone - without children since I was 17. I ought to be bound to do something I will love and that I would never be able to do with my kids in school.
To: 2Jedismom
WHAT!? (I'm saying that a lot today) You're leaving the boys home? Who're MY boys going to play with?

You have a year to do the 'splainin'.... best get started! I started while we were traveling over Christmas. But she's been pretty distracted, with this being the first Christmas since her dad died. Actually New Year's was harder because she felt like the date change put more distance between her and her dad.
But when I brought up Entmoot, I got the rolled eyes expression. But then it's an Internet thing too. Her sister's husband's former wife (an Orthodox Jew) left him to convert to Islam and run off with the man she met on the net...
Gotta convince her we're not a cult...I know, I know, but she doesn't have to know...
To: ksen
Well, if you twist my arms like that! LOL I really like having my kids with me anyway.
To: 2Jedismom
My kids are already picking out who they want to dress up as for when we go see RoTK. ;^)

But I think "Bruce Almighty" is all about ridicule. I agree 100%. Seeing Carrey strut and mouth the words "I've got the power!" while setting off a fire hydrant was an insult. And then the "enlargement" of a certain part of his wife's anatomy was just plain stupid and gross. There were no real laughs in the theatre, except for what I call "courtesy chuckles".
Burns' "Oh God!" movies at least attempted to show some kind of moral lesson and were never insulting. (Unless you consider John Denver an insult to your senses.)
