The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

That is one funny movie... great lines... and the greatest triple take in movie history.

My sister wants us to get on the list. We're trying to think of places to take him. [Most of] my siblings are likewise very excited by this whole idea. They were planning various places to take him. May take him to Chutter's - home of the longest candy counter in the world. What hobbit WOULDN'T be interested in that much candy?

I have two questions this morning...
Re: the Castle -- Can I claim either a bed or a couch... I have a bad back and sleeping on the floor in a sleeping bag will not be good for it. I would hate to miss everything because I can't move. Would that be okay?
Has anyone tried to learn a foreign language. If you did, let me know. I want to ask a few questions about the process.
Thank you,
Smeagol

Wow, that is nice! I think you made the right choice with this job...making friends? Meeting new people?

There are a lot of cool cigarette factories around, I believe. But how about in front of the corporate headquarters of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. Hmmm...I can't remember....did they close down the ones in *gasp* downtown Durham? Winston Salem is a good 2 to 2 1/2 hour drive.

Wow, that is nice! I think you made the right choice with this job...making friends? Meeting new people?Yeah, they provide us with fairly frequent free meals and such...can't beat that!
I'm making some friends, but it'll take a little while. That's always been a struggle for me. It probably doesn't come across here, but I'm painfully shy - something I'm trying to change. Unless I force myself, I tend to be one of those people who will stand in a corner at a social gathering and wait for someone to approach them...and since most people don't WANT to talk to someone like that, I usually stay in the corner. ;-)

I thought about taking him around to tobacco barns. The crops aren't in the field yet. My sister wants to take him on some of her gigs. I thought about taking him to Barad Dur (Dook University), Orthanc (NC State), and Ithilien (UNC).

We're still thinking about taking him to the border. We'd have to time it right, though...some border guards are MUCH crankier than others. Unfortunately the guy that's often on night duty is the nicest. I don't think a night picture would come out very well!

My first opportunity to get down to DC will be the weekend of the 17th. I really hope you can find one of those vendors with the cardboard cutout of Dubya.

And a long meeting that I have to stay late for this afternoon. :-( I have a meeting with the trolls at 10:30. Last time we had this meeting, it went on for 3 hours. It was painful.
To: Lil'freeper
Nice snaig!
To: Corin Stormhands
Oh wouldn't that be funny!
To: Corin Stormhands
Nice snaig! Thanks- I was trying for a subtle one.

I have a meeting with the trolls at 10:30. Last time we had this meeting, it went on for 3 hours. It was painful. This one is supposed to be from three to five, I think. And it's an information meeting...I don't have input, just have to sit there and listen.
I still haven't mastered napping while seemingly awake.

I think you're perfectly fine to claim a bed or a couch. We're very accommodating.
I had three years of Spanish in high school and two in college. No hablá español...
When I was in D.C. and planned to take the event market by storm, I started trying to learn Japanese. The weather cleared rather quickly.

Don't know why he'd want to come here. I never go anywhere! You could take a pic of him next to your woodpile. And Sting is pretty sharp so after the pic he could help you get rif of the pile then you take a pic of him standing next to where the pile used to be. Sort of a 'before and after' thing.
