The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Good morning! I'm still waking up...my brother's car is out of commission and he didn't have a chance to call around and find a ride with a co-worker, so I gave him a ride. Had to pick him up at 6:00...too early for me!

Then I came home and went for another walk, partly to try to wake up. Not sure if that worked very well. At least I have coffee!

Oh! I thought I saw a few HUNDRED posts back that we were voting on verifying the date!

Oh, Entmoot will be Sat 1/10/04. What was going on back there was trying to figure out the dates for the week we'll be having the castle.

If it's cheaper to fly Tues, Wed, or Thur then I think I will ask them to hold the week 1/8/04-1/14/04 which will be a Thursday to a Wednesday.

I have to tell you what Joshua said last night...

If you read back, you can see that right before I logged off for the night, the boys got up and ate popcorn with me. Ok, keep that in mind...

Yesterday, we went to the army supply store and saw a tee-shirt that said "82nd Airborne" on it, with a picture of a parachute and everything. I showed it to the boys and said "This is who our Chaplain is with!" Matthew was mildly interested, but Joshua was just astounded! He couldn't quit talking about it and said "That's what I'm going to do when I grow up!"

So last night, they got up to eat popcorn and I asked if they both wanted butter and salt. Matthew said yes, but Joshua said no, and then proceeded to LECTURE Matthew about how unhealthy it was to eat popcorn with butter and salt. He said "I want to be in the military and parachute...you have to be healthy and strong to do that!"

He was really serious about it!

That sounds good to me. If I AM able to go, I'd rather travel during the week, too.

Tell him he can have all the popcorn he wants as long as he gets up at five every morning and runs with a fully loaded pack for a coupla hours. ;-)

I believe of the two, Josh could do it when he grows up! He is one tough cookie!

Matthew is a computer geek.

Mornin' everybody!

May not be around too much. Giving a final in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

Ruthy, could you save me some bacon and hash browns if you have some?

Word is it's still there.

Well that's good news. Maybe that storm was wiping out any primroses lining the path.

I've actually done that...ran until I puked.

It's not that bad once you get over it...just means you've done your best.

Thank you... I have been dreading all the math classes that I am forced to take. If it were up to me, I wouldn't do any math...

But, so far, so good. This summer (first quarter) I'm taking Intro to Algebra I and (second quarter) Intro to Algebra II. Fall quarter College Algebra... then hopefully, Statistics I and II. Then, I'll be sprung from math... forever (unless I'm forced to take it in grad school)

Don't you just love how you can have two kids who are so extremely different and yet so adorable?
