The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Feed beans to the dwarves at your own risk...
Vim? libarian? You guys on board?

Are there hotels around the castle... Yes, there are plenty! So far Bear & Rose, Sam Cree & his family and ItsOurTimeNow & his family have opted to stay at a nearby hotel. As the date approaches, you all should find out where each of you is staying and try to stay at the same hotel. Makes it a lot easier to carpool to the castle for money viewing!

Have we done an APP (all points ping) for Entmoot? I don't have the list.

Feed beans to the dwarves at your own risk... Yeah, but it's so good. You'll like it. And there's a deck. Didn't you say somethin' about sleeping out there?

No birthday suits are recommended, Master Dwarf! Private pool or not, the Elves get rather touchy-feely after a few drinks and I doubt you'll feel comfortable! LOL!

Didn't you say somethin' about sleeping out there? Between the snoring and the aroma therapy, y'all are gonna want all the dwarves out there...

Oooo....good point...

Hey, how close to the airport is this castle? Do you think that we could coordinate enough so that we could have pickups and drop offs at the airport? That would save me having to rent a vehicle. And I wouldn't mind sitting a few extra minutes for someone arriving close to my time.
what with needing to go to Germany one month before moot I need to cut a corner somewhere if I can.

Due to the fact that I have summer tuition, books, and private tuition for Arabic all coming due within two weeks, I am going to have to opt out of the castle. But, I still want to come... and will stay at a hotel for the weekend.

I think we'll have enough vehicles that no one should have to rent a car unless they just want one.
To: carton253
Smeags, with the number of people we are getting at the castle it appears that it could be your least expensive option. Check out the numbers for having 15 Hobbit Holers involved.

Don't opt out just because you can't spring the deposit now. If you decide later you want to stay at the castle, we can split up the costs then. Right ksen?
The tricksey thing is getting the money for the deposit right now and then collecting more over the summer. I don't think I'm out of line saying that we'd still welcome you in the house even if you come in at the last minute.
You just may not get your choice of sleeping places.

Beans?!!! And cheese!!?? To Dwarves!!?? You know as the girl in the family with 2 brothers I'm kind of used to the dwarvish things. My oldest little brother says to this day that it was mom's torture instinct that made beans and cornbread every Saturday of our life growing up. So that church was either fart or burst. My bro thinks mom did it on purpose.

Yes, but the problem is the deposit... in the next two weeks, I will have to lay out close to $3,000 in school fees... and school is my first priority. I promised myself that when I started. I just don't have the extra money for a deposit right now. In January, it will be no problem...

Ditto what Corin said Carton.
I am mailing a check to ksen this evening for part of the deposit. I have to figure my budget and pay some bills first but if I need to I can probably manage to cover someone else's deposit if necesary. And also, trying not to speak where I shouldn't, but Hair also said earlier that she could spring for the deposit money if necesary. So, I think between all of us if you want in the castle that might be most economical for you.

Okay, Carton, here's the deal. If January is not a problem for you, it will be for me. Can I pay your portion of the deposit now and maybe you can pay that amount of mine in January? I will just be returning from a trip to help my daughter with having her baby in Germany. And I will definitely need all the help I can get then? Would that work for you?

I agree. I'll be driving, as will you and ksen. If anything, folks may need a ride to and from the airport and I'd be more than happy to do that!
