The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Okay, as a person who can honestly only stay 2 nights at the most... I don't want ya'll to have to pro-rate. I'm all for doing it the simple way and dividing by the # of people. After all, the cost is still reasonable enough... especially if we can get it up to 15. And there are a whole lot of us who are volunteering for sleeping bag sites.

OK then...we'll just be in the kitchen singing: "
Imagine me and you, and you and me, no matter how they tossed the dice, it had to be...." LOL!
I actually plan on making it as easy as possible. Buy as much of the precooked stuff as possible and keep the meals simple but large portions (roasted pork loin, broiled or grilled steaks, baked fish, etc).
What do you think?

Here's what I'm sending out in the next care package to the Chaplain!

I gotta go, need to go to the bank and make a deposit...the funding for the books is beginning to come in. Also, I need to run to the post office and take care of a ticket for Steve (he got pulled over for a burned out tail light, but then couldn't find his insurance card...I just have to go show them his insurance card.)
So, I'll see you later!

The castle is rented out through 5/17 so the earliest I can get in to look is 5/18, but I'll be in Pensacola that week so the real earliest I can get it would be right after Memorial Day.
If I get the $500 deposit to reserve the house before then I will go ahead and do it. I spoke to the managers and they said the deposit is refundable if we decide no.
I think the quicker we get that deposit down, the better.

What do you think? I think excellent!
I had said I was going to bring salsa. Now, I'm thinking that with a Sam's nearby it might work better just to ingredients and make some selections of snackable dips while I'm there. I would never get enough salsa packed in my bags on the plane for all these dwarves. And a large stew pan, a #10 can of tomatoes, some onions, garlic, peppers and seasoning and we've got fresh salsa. I could stuff seasonings in my bags easier than all that salsa.

Swimsuit? I have to bring a swimsuit?
How about the one I got for my birthday? It's a private pool after all...
To: Wneighbor; ksen; RMDupree
And a large stew pan... ksen, it prolly wouldn't hurt to check out how the kitchens are stocked for equipment, pots & pans & stuff...
If there's something specific that's needed, those of us driving can probably bring it along.
To: ksen
I think the quicker we get that deposit down, the better. Agreed! My check is in the mail!

Perfect idea!
With 2 kitchens in the place, it will soooo easy to store all of the bulk food and drink.

I also make that very popular homemade bean dip. The one with plastic cheese in it. don't tell OT but I figured I'd make a big pot of that too. Trust me, the dwarves will love it!
