The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Are you a Ham? Besides being a Hobbit Hole Ham?No I'm not a ham, although my wife would probably disagree. ;^)
We moved down here in June of 1998. I-95 gets to be almost undriveable on Daytona weekend.

I'm good. I'm in feeling-sorry-for-myself mode because I can't go home this weekend though. I was going to live vicariously and be with you and Bear and Rose if ya'll were doing the Drafthouse tonight.
Speaking of.... I'm hungry. Thinking of that place makes me want another one of those burgers there. ha ha

The boys were excited, but it's like I told Steve...they almost kinda took it in stride! Once it was over with, it was like "Well, that was unusual, but life is chock full of unusual, so on we go!
I do hope they look back on their childhood with fondness. I told them they should try to remember it to tell their grandchildren. Joshua said he would, and that he would also remember to tell his grandchildren how one time I was playing my whistle in the back yard and he fell over backward in his chair.
I haven't gotten over it. I can't believe I didn't dream it.
Wn, if you do paint it on your roof, that would be so cool! I have thought about painting it on a sheet and tacking it to the roof.

So, you went to the gym last night instead of this morning, Corin? Yep. I figured if I was up after 11:00 p.m. I wasn't gonna make it in the morning anyway. Our gym is open 24hrs from Midnite Sunday through 11:00 p.m. on Friday.

We moved down here in June of 1998. I-95 gets to be almost undriveable on Daytona weekend. Add a driving rainstorm, a brand new Granny and it was dark by then into that I-95 equation. I was like a kid on vacation on that radio... how long is it to West Palm Beach? Great radio range down there. I talked to the guys in Melbourne until I got to my exit in West Palm.

No room assignments have been given out, but I don't see any problem with people with kids having one of the rooms. That way there'd be a place to put the kids at night, or if they needed to be away from everything for a bit.
Check out Hair's latest poll over on Yahoo, one of the options is staying at the castle only if you could have one of the rooms.
And after all, you're one of the founders of this fellowship, so you should get at least a little special treatment. ;^)

...how long is it to West Palm Beach? An hour and a half to two hours. It's about 180 miles from here to Miami.

I would like to paint my roof. And that is a big statement for me. I HATE to paint. But, would paint damage my shingles of anything? Or have any detrimental effects? Anybody know? I've never seen anybody paint a composition roof.

Well, it's Steve and the boys I'm thinking of...Steve isn't in to this as much as I am and would probably want to go to bed early with the boys.
I'll go check it out...

Those guys were having a good time with me the whole way. I don't really use my radio often. I have it for emergencies. But, I listen a lot.....lurker at heart you know. And I had tuned in a local frequency and there were some guys talking. There are NOT enough highway mileage signes in Florida for my taste. So, I jumped in, said my hellos, told 'em the situation and where I was going and asked HOW MUCH LONGER I HAD. They talked to me the whole way. I guess I was a little south of Melbourne when I got 'em because I was on the radio talking for about an hour. It sure made the drive go faster to have someone to talk to. I was WANTING to get to see that grandbaby.

I don't know, I've already explained my lack of success in marriage. But, it seems to me that Steve wanting to go to bed early with the boys would be a good thing.... at least if it was me.... and I was still married... which is why I'm probably not.
