The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

In the Melbourne/Palm Bay area. We are almost smack dab in the center of the Atlantic coast side of Florida. If you know where the Cape is then look just a little south, there we are.

Hey, I drove through there one time. It was in 1998 on Daytona race day. That evening there was a horrible rainstorm. I was on my way to West Palm Beach to visit my fresh born granddaughter. Talked to some Ham Operators in Melbourne for a long time. Are you a Ham? Besides being a Hobbit Hole Ham?

Do you want to try to meet up for a "hello" while we're there?

That would be great. We have tickets for the 10pm Friday night show, and we'll likely be there in line by 8:00 or 8:30. We bought 6 tickets. Likely be me, my daughter, my niece, my sister, another niece and my son. I would love to meet you and Mrs. Bear!

What we did for TTT, and what we'll likely do for this one, is meet at the TEX-PRESSO place, or whatever it is, in the parking lot. By the time we got in to TTT, we had all downed enough espresso to fly a 747.

Moving is expensive and time consuming. I could bring my pickup and help.

I'm more worried about selling/renting my house than about moving.

I was kind of talking about helping to move one of those vats to north Texas.

Ok, I called the property manager again and asked about payments and all that so here's the skinny.

1.) We'd need up front $500 to hold the house plus the $35 application fee.

2.) They'd send the lease out about July and the balance of the rent would be due with the signing of the lease, $1,800.

3.) Sometime in September or October we would need to send in the $2,000 security deposit.

So ther's not so much needed as soon as we thought.
