The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

My wife will sometimes play games with the telemarketers...stringing them along, etc. I usually wait for them to take a breath and say "we're not interested thanks for calling click"

That usually takes care of it, at least for that call.

I claim the guy on the right... ;-)

OK.... I think the guitar player is kinda cute.

I also think an elevated stage is a bad idea

I guess I sort of understand the logic, but it's frustrating that being responsible means it's HARDER to get loans if you really need one!

I agree. Credit is a silly game. They want you to have a great history, but not have too much credit available. Of course, as your credit gets better, your limits rise! They push cards at the "brokest" people- college students and recent home buyers. It makes no sense to me!

The 'buy something and pay it off' trick does work, but it takes a while. I did a variation of this when I was building my credit: take advantage of 'same as cash' promotions. Buy something you can afford and pay it off well before the deadline. It gets reported in your credit history very favorably and no interest is ever paid.

Home ownership is absolutely the best boost to a credit profile- so you've got it made.

You know how sometimes they'll call and you'll say "Hello?" and they won't answer, then you say "Hello?" again and then they start talking? Has that ever happened to you? Well, it irritates me to no end and if I'm not in a good mood I will unleash on them for not answering me on the first time I said "Hello?" It's some kind of screening process that weeds out answering machines, I think.

Sometimes I say "Hello?" and if no one says anything I just stand there and wait. Then they usually just hang up.

There are several things I could say here...but I think I'll refrain...

I'll have to go listed. I've heard them before, as I said...seem to remember I thought the drums were a bit much.

Now Wolfstone...THAT'S a great Scottish rock band, though they're barely rock. They are wonderful!

These guys have modern type music with the traditional type sound...I don't particularly care for it, but that may be just me.
