The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Our church in Waco was kind of like yours about the size and doing what we were led to do. When I first went there 2 of the staff ministers were women and 2 were men. When we first began to do licensing classes that was inspired and led by a lady. So, there just isn't an issue within that church.

However, ours is more 21st century holy roller than your sounds. Which is good for me. I mean, I am an old party girl. It just seems right that all that enthusiasm I spent for all those years for the enemy ought to be just as passionately displayed for God. But, a lot of older folks in the church don't care for that. We kind of have an unofficially designated area of the sanctuary where all us rockers sit. Trying to allow the older folks to have their area. However, I always try to stay away from the snake section myself *grin* you know God put emnity between the woman and the snake.

I really like that very green one.

That one would be especially appropriate in the Capital Forest...

Hey everyone, we're here safe and sound on our new homestead in Missouri. Our furniture got here Friday, and with the awesome help of my dad and my Aunt Martha, we're pretty well settled and out of boxes.

We'll keep this account for another month, but will send you our new internet address as soon as we get one.

missus g is getting enormous, and she will have the baby in Lebanon, MO. The kids are doing great, and adjusting rapidly to life in the country. Me? I got land and a lot of work to keep me busy, so I'm content. Met a lot of neighbors, everyone seems friendly enough. We like it here.

dialin' in long distance till we get a new ISP... preferably with DSL... I'll be checkin' in from time to time till then... be seein yuh!

The others that I have recently come to like are all the desert camos. Those would fit with my desert rat scenario too.

OH HEY! Great news g'nad. Congrats on the new neighborhood and best wishes to the Mrs. Been a little concerned about her and the move. Glad it's all set up well now. Blessings to you all.

I used to have 2 step kids in your neck of the woods and I still have a good friend living somewhere thereabouts. There's good folks there.

Camos are all earth colors (mostly anyway), I think the earth colors tend to look good on most folks.

Most of the old masters' paintings were painted primarily with earth colors, that kind of shows us what can be done with them. They used a few brights, but mostly the earths.

Not that anybody asked, I just couldn't help mentioning it.

I use "mossy oak" for deer hunting, like it pretty much.

Yes, I agree, that was my second favorite. Alas, not much use for snowy camos in even the north part of Tejas.

Not in this part of Washington either. Though I would look fabulous for that two days per year we have snow.

But "Summers" and "Winters" aren't supposed to look good in warm colors! :)

I just haven't met a color of green that I didn't like. (elvish?) I don't hold much with real true browns but rusty colors and burnt oranges mixed with the browns and greens are about as beautiful as anything can get in my eyes.
