Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ecurbh!!!!!
To: ecurbh; RMDupree
Oh, I forgot it was your birthday, ecurb! Thanks for reminding us, Ruthy!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
To: RMDupree
Mmmmm! What a spread!
I always pray over my kids during their shots. I started doing it in my pediatrician's office when Matthew was a newborn and had to get his first shots. I just held his hands, leaned over him and prayed out loud. The nurse was a wonderful woman...black and very spiritual, and she would stand there giving Matthew his shots, saying "Yes, Lord..." the whole time I was praying! LOL
Now I whisper in their ear.

Like maybe the nickel coating keeps it from vibrating the same or somethingso many comments rolling around in the brain, and none of them appropriate in the family friendly Hobbit Hole.

The Whistle Shop says that the brass ones have a "warm" tone. I'm also in a cheap mode so I don't want to spend a lot on these whistles. :)

Mmmmmmm.....hash browns.....

Sounds like a great idea! I'll try it today!
I googled forever to try to find a Lord of the Rings cake, but no luck. :(
For Entmoot, I'll probably run to Publix (up by ksen, of course) and take along a color printout of the Hobbit Hole logo to have them put on the cake using that sugar technique.
I'd like to make a big chocolate Mount Doom, but I don't think it will travel well and it would be a big pain in the rear to fix after arriving.

Happy Birthday!
I'd bring a cake but I think we have enough already.

I don't understand why you pinged
me to that comment...

I think 2J's right - I think the Gens we've liked were the brass ones with a red mouthpiece. Same sort of metal as the Feadogs.
To: RosieCotton
I figure that among the F, D, C, and Bb I might be able to play along with the Lunasa CD's.

Speaking of which, if they ever come back to your area, you MUST go see them. No excuses. That was SUCH an incredible concert! As wonderful as the CDs are, they don't come close!
Sean played a low Bb (I THINK it was Bb...) whistle on a few songs as I recall...it was HUGE! Looked like a tail pipe or something.
Did I mention that concert was incredible? Really, really incredible?
To: Overtaxed
My Bb really has a big reach for the last hole. I rarely play it because the reach is so uncomfortable.
But I do now and then.

We had an earthquake.Wha? When was that?
I'm assuming it was a little one, like we occasionally get here. Forerunners of the big one that will all but eliminate Gore country?
To: Wneighbor
so many comments rolling around in the brain, and none of them appropriate in the family friendly Hobbit Hole.Yes, I know exactly what you mean...my lack of musical education often keeps me from articulating exactly what I am trying to say.

To: Corin Stormhands; HairOfTheDog
Did the earth move for you?Now I'm confused...was this an earthquake, or another one of "those" Frodo dreams?
To: Corin Stormhands
I don't understand why you pinged me to that commentI don't know Corin. I just don't know....
