Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

IMHO, if she had a problem with the role of the prostitutes (in the play, of course) she had no business auditioning for that production in the first place.Exactly. Which is why I got out of the whole thing entirely. I had a problem with a LOT of it.
Like I say, going to ETBC wouldn't have changed the outcome of my life. I'm right where I'm supposed to be.

Yesterday morning - it was up and springier than Gimli's ax in a circle of orcs. Oh there are just sooooo many comments I could make... I thought that was a colorful word picture that you might enjoy this morning. :-)

There was a blue-sprucey looking juniper that I liked. I may go back and get some of those. ooooo... I love juniper. Get that one! Maybe it will even smell good.

Sorry, don't know how that happened.

I imagine the tsunami that accompanies this massive earthquake would wipe out the rest of us?
Pity, if so, because the drive to the beach would sure be a lot shorter for me!

I know! There's something "unnatural" about putting a friend to sleep period. I was lucky in that my Tequila died in her sleep.
It was so difficult making that final decision for Dino. I was sort of angry with him for not going peacefully in his sleep. I know that sounds horrible, but I did feel resentful about it. Even though I know I did the right thing, I didn't want to do it.
No matter what though, he couldn't go on as he was. He was suffering. He had zero quality of life. His eyes were pleading for rest and the only kindness I could give him was to let him go. He had good days and bad days, but even his good days were not what the average person would call "good".
You know what is best for Zulu, Hair. You know what the right thing to do is. As your friend, I can only support you in your decisions and give you a cyber shoulder to cry on when all is said and done.

I tell you, I got a scholarship to a tiny little college in Marshall Texas called "East Texas Baptist College". Everyone literally called it "ETsy BeetCee" it was so small, but I should have gone there. But I didn't. I took the wrong turn, as I've done so often in my life.*chuckling*and I had a full scholarship to go to Texas Women's University in Denton majoring in chemistry. But, instead I headed on down to the pharmacy school at UT. And got too involved in the product. Wrong turns abound. At least for us girls though outcomes have been good. :-)

Mostly, I'm just tickled with the way it looks today after the rain! I like the way the lighter green looks against the darker green of my oregano.

Pity, if so, because the drive to the beach would sure be a lot shorter for me!Me too, I think, though it's hard to tell! It looks like we'd end up with a lot more lakes, too.

ooooo... I love juniper. Get that one! Maybe it will even smell good.I probably will at least get one. They're $13 a bush, though! That seems like a lot to me, but maybe not?
I figured juniper was juniper, but they must have had five or six different types, all different!
To: RosieCotton
Every juniper I have ever known, I have ended up yanking out of the ground with a truck! Huge prickly stickery monsters!

It doesn't look too good for any of us, for sure. Bear found out where the map came from, but I didn't read the theory, though I am assuming it not to be widely accepted. Looks like we are screwed in Miami, however, on that map.

$13 isn't too bad, depending on how big they are.

Looks like we are screwed in Miami, however, on that map. I'm thinkin' I'd like to see that map superimposed over the "Bush Country" map...
To: Corin Stormhands
Itty bitty bushes...just the start of a bush, really. But I guess it's not that pricey considering that your average potted plant can be at LEAST that much.
Trouble is that I would probably want three or so...it adds up. Not like I'd have to buy more next year, though, so it's an investment, I guess.
To: RosieCotton
Yeah, consider it an investment. I've opted not to get a couple of plants, or at least gone to smaller sizes, because of price.
I want more forsythia, but they're about $17 each.
I'm thru buying plants for the year tho. I've got some zinnia seeds I'll set out in a couple of weeks. And I'll plant what my mother-in-law brings. But that's it until fall.
To: Corin Stormhands
Once I get bushes (if I get bushes) I'll be done with any big spending for outdoor stuff. I hope. I may buy some smaller flowers (marigolds and such), but those are pretty cheap.
The biggest cost was the dog's fence, which still could be upgraded...that'll have to wait until fall though.
And I have to go steal a bunch of stones from out at The House...to mark the edge of my plant beds. Don't have many here, but there are LOTS of 'em out there. Plenty of old stream beds, for one.
