Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I can't decide whether to leave it at it's naturalized location or move it closer to the foundation for that shrubbery effect.I did some looking for a shrubbery this past weekend - one that looks nice, and not too expensive.
There was a blue-sprucey looking juniper that I liked. I may go back and get some of those.

I notice that Bermuda gets a little larger on that map.
Morning All.

Mornin' everyone!
I've brewed the coffee and it is strong and steaming! Alyson gave me a rough night since her nose is on stuffed up. Poor baby! Becky and I have a touch of it too, but at least we can blow our noses.
Since the coffee is strong, I can safely say I am awake now and breakfast is served! I'm still craving steaks today, so I've broiled up some ribeyes and fried up eggs to go with em! OT, your hash browns are ready on the hot plate and there is plenty for anyone else who wants some. Nice, crispy bacon and plump sausages are sizzlin' hot on those 6 platters on the table. ENJOY!
Hair - Logan and Zulu's spot looks absolutely beautiful. What a peaceful looking place to rest. Well done, my dear friend. My heart is breaking for you today. Please know that I'm only a phone call away if you need me, OK? And give Bay a scratch on the neck from me. He's got a heckuva day ahead as well.

Thanks for breakfast Ruthy!

And give Bay a scratch on the neck from me. He's got a heckuva day ahead as well. It will surprise him to find out he is the lucky one!
He'll be fine. He'll be so drunk he won't even remember it.
As for Zulu and Logan's spot, if the viney things take over and cover it, I will leave the little fence, otherwise, I can take it out when The ferns and big shrubs provide enough of on obstacle that the horses wont walk through there.
Hullo! - Good morning!

You're very welcome, Master Dwarf!
There's an extra platter of bacon (with a ribeye hidden under the stack) in the oven for ya. Ssssshhh! Don't tell the others!

I love the idea of the vines. So nice! I'd leave the fence there anyway, just to be sure no one tromps through there by accident.
And poor Bay! I'm sure he'll be sore after the...er, procedure. :)

if the viney things take over and cover it... Sounds like a job for kudzu...

I tell you, I got a scholarship to a tiny little college in Marshall Texas called "East Texas Baptist College". Everyone literally called it "ETsy BeetCee" it was so small, but I should have gone there. But I didn't. I took the wrong turn, as I've done so often in my life. The people there, even the drama people, were wonderful.
I believe I would have ended up in the same place I am now...just a quicker and smoother trip.

I just figgered out why I haven't been getting Yahoo email (at least I think I figgered it out).
I had
"corinstormhands@yahoo.com" listed as my email address since that is one of my aliases over there. But since I set the account up as
"wardsmythe@yahoo.com" that's the only place I can receive Yahoo mail. I've changed the info on my profiles.
I guess that's why recently g'nad and ksen both commented on all the emails in Yahoo. I've seen nothing there since early March...

Hmmm...speaking of pics....where's ksen?

Good morning! Steve is winding down on his paper (woohoo) and got to come home early last night. We watched the end of NYPD blue (a rerun, but oh well). Anyway, that's why I just quit posting so abruptly...but you probably knew that.

Actually I bet his "back there" won't be sore, but will feel better and clean. It is his face that will feel like someone stuck a big metal contraption in his mouth and then took a file to his teeth!

As for Zulu, I can't look at her without crying. There is something very un-natural about setting a date. She had a pretty good day yesterday, which gave me real mixed feelings. I am glad she felt pretty good. I don't really want her to have another day of obvious suffering just to prove a point. But I wanted my point to feel proved.
She was quiet last night too. I don't think she paced, I think she slept right through. I had her right next to me and told Gidget to just deal with it.

I think the roots were wrapped fine. I figured there would be a little shock just from being postal didn't you? It was only a bit wilty.... like me this morning. And it went away after getting in good soil and water.
Mostly, I'm just tickled with the way it looks today after the rain!

We're here with ya, sis.
You are good to your animails. The best animal owner I've ever known.

My college had (and still has) only about 1,200 students. So the drama department was very limited. We had no theater and had to build our sets from the floor up in the gym. Actually I think we probably learned more doing that.
But we were also limited in the types of shows we could do. Some of that has changed.
I missed seeing the production of The Fantastiks because I had tickets for President's Weekend when all the high school kids were on campus. When the college President saw it and heard the "rape" song, he nixed the performance.
Since we didn't dance, when I was there the Jr-Sr tradition was for the junior class to do a broadway show in honor of the senior class. My class wanted to do Fiddler on the Roof but we were not allowed to because of the "disrespectful way that Tevye talked to God." That adminstration has gone and they've done it several times in years past.
I think sometimes conservative Christianity, while having the right intentions, gets the wrong results. A few years back one of our college grads was applauded because of an acting choice she made.
She had been selected to play the role of Fantine in a touring company of Les Miserables. But when she was told she would have to alternate playing one of the prostitutes, she declined the entire production.
IMHO, if she had a problem with the role of the prostitutes (in the play, of course) she had no business auditioning for that production in the first place.

Now - dangit.... I have to get busy - Have to go clean stalls so I can put the horses back in before the vet comes.
And, it is pouring out, so I will have the vet come in here to do Zulu. My imagined idea of sitting with her outside on the grass is gone. Now the living room has to be clean.
Talk to you in a bit.
