The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I liked to go fishing...but my dad didn't and after he taught me, he pretty well left me to myself when we went.
I did like to mow. He would let me mow when I was a kid and I still go over and help him push mow his lawn in the summer.

That's so cool 2J. I can't imagine having a child and not praising everything. That's what my Grama did to me. Looking back she praised some ridiculous stuff. My mom always found fault - still does.
Because of the difficulties over the years I finally just mostly severed the relationship about 12 years ago. Therefore Myranda hasn't grown up knowing my mom very well. In the last couple of years we've had more contact with mom, mostly due to Grama's illness. Myranda, not being raised around that constant criticism has been amazingly astute at getting to some of the root issues with my mom. She figured out on her own a lot of the head games and the roots of some of those head games. It's been pretty weird to get her take on mom after all these years. And she's right on target.

See??? I honestly sent the packages! LOL Ha ha ha! We are all shocked! Do you hear me? Just shocked! To find out that you really sent stuff. We were thinking that you and Steve were bathing in sunscreen up there in Tulsa.
BTW did you get any rain tonight? It had just quit when I got to Wichita County tonight. No rain to ride in that that perfect leftover just-after-rain smell.

What cool pix, 2JMom! I wonder if they'll actually play those whistles? I hope so.

My parents didn't have daughters, if they had a favorite among us 4 brothers, it never showed. My parents didn't have favorites, but I was the favorite among the cousins. Most of us lived pretty close (sort of Waltonesque) and I was the next-to-youngest. I was the youngest until I was 10 and my cousin was born while her dad was stationed in Iraq. But her mom was a crazy German alcoholic, so we didn't see her much. She still has problems.
My cousins still remind me that I was the favorite and could do no wrong. I finally told 'em, "I'm almost 45 years old, y'all just need to get over it."
In a lot of ways, I think my grandfather (who died when I was 10) thought I was my dad.
And let me just go on the record here. You have my axe, but I will not use it in a murder-for-hire scheme...

We were thinking that you and Steve were bathing in sunscreen up there in Tulsa. Careful, this is a family thread. ;-)

I had to go quickly...Steve came home.
I am leaving the water on and I'm worried to death about it...but the floor is dry and I have the fan still going. I hope we don't blow the line in the night!
Good night!
