The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!
Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

All kidding aside, smoking is just about the toughest thing in the world to quit doing. Especially when, like me, you just enjoy it so durned much! You are so right about the smoking being hardest to quit.
okay i've been here long enough to say it I gave up a hard drug of choice without turning back in 1984. When I went into the ministry in 1992 I gave up alcohol so I could set a good example to those I minister to. But, then I had to do away with cigarettes. That was the struggle. And I backslid on that one twice for a while. I still like to enjoy a deep breath of second hand smoke every now and then as yukky as that sounds. It's hard. But, we're praying.
To: Scott from the Left Coast
Scott, I've heard it from a lot of folks and I really think that my pain is stress related. Nevertheless, I will get checked out ASAP.
I was actually crying to one of the nurses there last night because I was so terrified. I kept thinking about what would happen to my girls, my mom, Glen, everyone if I died.
You see, Glen and I are actually EX-husband and wife, but have been working on getting back together for some time. We have our conflicts, as all couples do, but right now, both his mom and my mom are unable to pay their own expenses. Thus, I live at my mom's and pay all of her bills while she takes care of the kids for me while I work. I also pay her $500 / month for the child care so she can have $$ to pay for car insurance, etc.
Glen is helping his mom by living with her and supplementing her small fixed income in order to keep the house.
I have tons of $$ pressure on me obvisouly since I am the sole provider of my "household" (on less than $30k/year), as well as, the one who does all of the grocery shopping and scheduling. Additional pressure because I am trying to get things worked out with Glen (even though we have no time together really), add to that my 2 kids, (one a baby) and a full time job. You all also know about my cousin Max, my niece Michelle and the various other assorted chaos in my life. I won't even get into the other BIG thing in my personal life, but it's a doozy in and of itself.
I do have WAY too mcuh stress in my life, but I pray and have faith that the Lord provides strength when and where I need it. I have no other way to get rid of the stuff since I cannot abandon my mom, my kids, my job or Glen.
I should dirnk a glass of wine and go to bed. :)

First time through I read that as "I sent you some pot..." that's just great after the note i just sent to ruthy! I'm stained.
Myranda has a field day with the pot jokes. Her mom grows herb in pots. I pot herbs. I have a book called "Herbs in Pots" that she sometimes displays prominently on the bookshelves because she thinks its hilarious. I'm definitely being stereotyped by all my Old Tobys at home too.
To: Corin Stormhands
cornbread is a delicacy... Whew! I thought you'd switched sides on us.
To: RMDupree
Wow Ruthy, I think you certainly have the right to feel stressed out. We'll keep all those things in our prayers.
To: Wneighbor
I'm stained. Nah, it was just my limited reading ability.

I thought you'd switched sides on us. Ma'am I am wounded. I feel as though General Sherman has just march across my soul...
American by birth. Southern by the Grace of God.

Police raided the Hobbit Hole on monday, when it was discovered that they were using codewords to mask a sopisticated contraband smuggling operation. "Mint" plants indeed.... Now where's the STUFF?" Corin's got his stuff. He already planted his. I didn't get an address from you so you didn't get any. OT's got some though. You can ask her if it's any good so you'll know if it's worth asking for.

Let those without sin be the first to throw stoners.
HA! Been there, done a lot of that! Had a pretty good time always, but grew out of it. I cannot say I graduated all the way to any ministry!
Maybe I could be a meteorologist.
