The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Clearly, back pain affects my spelling. (I'll use any excuse I can get!)

Well, I am not working today, just lounging. I am enjoying the new office chair my dad got me for my desk! - I was just using a dining room chair before, and I didn't know how bad I had it!

I am at "Farewell to Lorien" in my FoTR reading.

I am still lounging at Tom Bombadil's house. I like it there, but I really should be getting on my way.

Yep, the hour is late and the road is long.
Good journeys to you, and try to stay away from any open barrows.

Howdy folks! It's been a few days since I was able to get over this way, so I've got a lot of catching up to do. Whilst I do so, I'd like to propose this little conundrum that I discovered while FINALLY seeing The Two Towers for the first time yesterday afternoon. (In short, I thought it was great...but I'm reserving my full account until after my second viewing later this week. I want to digest it all first).
Here's what I was thinking, and if this has already been discussed, my apologies.
When Faramir & Co arrive in Osgiliath, the soldiers are already fighting an orc army that has, as one of Faramir's soldiers reported, "already taken the Eastern Shore.", correct?
How then, did Faramir & Co. get to the Western side of Osgiliath, coming from Ithilien (in the East)? Did they simply sneak past the orcs? Did they use the sewer system? Mass Transit?

I've just arrived at Weathertop in my FoTR reading. Slow going, but it's nigh impossible to get quiet reading time with the kids, hubby and household calling.
As for work, my boss showed no mercy and for that I am glad. He saved me from guilt if he had sent me "home" and I would have gone to the theatre instead. Alas! I must use my free pass by tomorrow!!!!
My office closes at 3PM tomorrow, so maybe I can go right after work...hmmmmm.
To: ItsOurTimeNow
I think Ksen has your answer ;~D Heh.
To: ksen
LOL!
"Beam me up, Captain of Gondor!"
To: ItsOurTimeNow
"Things are quiet out there."
"Yep, too quiet."

Hehehe....one reason why I don't hang out at C&F much these days. Lately I only browse the forum when I'm looking for something in particular (like whistle recommendations.)
If that guy writes his philosophy papers the way he posts, no wonder he hasn't been published! LOL
To: JameRetief
Kind of wierd that your first installment of the "Tolkien Virgin" articles turned into a prosecute Clinton thread.

I'm telling you, that JessieK really needs to get a life. What kind of nut puts that much energy into a message board???
So, have we made a decision on Entmoot yet?
;-)
To: 2Jedismom
Weekend of Jan. 9 2004, I believe. I'm sure I'll be corrected if that's not right. :)
Should I get on C&F and tell JessieK to grow up and get a life? :)
To: Overtaxed
LOL! That would be funny. I post a lot so I don't want to do it, but she's acting like she's in junior high.
To: 2Jedismom
Hmmmmmm.....do I really want to do that.....
To: Overtaxed
Naw...better not. She didn't get much support anyway. The consensus was, she was being silly.
To: 2Jedismom
I just read the whole thread and others beat me to it.
