The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

You didn't tell me Lobelia was going to send me on an errand too! - jeeesh!

Installed it and found the pin thing, rang the dang bell for Lobelia, got the ring and gave the key to the Gaffer.

That black rider was scary! That is where I stopped.... right after meeting the gaffer. Thought I better get something to eat before continuing!

Plumbers report....... does that have anything to do with those dwarfmoot photos?

No...2JM has water leaking from under the slab.

I agree with everything you said! - It's a masterpiece! - Gorgeous. Everything was beautiful. The amount of work they went to to make everything from scratch, yeah.... It was no ordinary movie!

you should probably get Frodo in mid to late December

Better mid than late December, since the theme parks fill up with snowbirds during Christmas week!

Well, it could be bad. Very very bad. Like a leak under our slab, who knows where? If we can't find it in the house, we'll have to have a company come in and locate the leak, then excavate under our house to find it under the slab.

We have to tear out under our kitchen sink to find out if it's coming from there. My dad managed to tear out a bit of the cabinet under there and it's soaking with standing water, but the pipes look dry, so it's coming from somewhere else (bathroom maybe?) and running across the slab.

While working on this, the spigot in our garage blew off. Just blew off! Apparently it's busted and water was just shooting out into my garage! Took me a minute to figure out what the sound was and by then it was all over the place. Now the water is turned off.

Does anyone remember a long time ago when I was sitting in the kitchen chatting in the old NZ builds Hobbit HOle thread and the kitchen pipe burst?? I jumped up and shut the water off?

We have the worst pipes, I think.

I have no idea.

I'm still praying it's a pipe in the wall, running down...or a pipe under the cabinet.

I'm so upset. I told Steve he's going to have to stay home from work tomorrow and take care of this...I don't know what to do. He's at school right now, but I just paged him to come home as soon as school is over.

I hope they survive - if they actually ARE tulips and not just weeds.

That is one thing I miss about living in Florida -- spring bulbs. The only way to grow them here is to treat them like annuals, and dig them up and throw them away when they finish blooming (wasteful), or dig them up in the fall, and put them in a refrigerator for a few months, then replant in late winter (too much work).

Well, the kids have been playing in the little swimmng pool all day, so I'm going to call them clean. I'll go bathe at my mom's tomorrow.

At least I have plenty of water under the dresser!

Drinking water that is...I have plenty of water under my cabinets too.

I noticed earlier that the water had started to run out from under my cabinets into the kitchen floor. The trim under the cabinet doors, that holds the vinyl down, is all damp and you can actually see water.

Well, 2JM is busy with the plumber, and some folks in the west are commuting now. Wonder where the rest are?
