Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Oh, how lovely!
My very first honest double-Precious!

We watched the Crocodile Hunter movie just this weekend and David Wenham (sp?) plays the fish and game officer. It is simply *amazing* how fluffy hair, scraggly beardage, and armor can transform a handsome, but rather ordinary man into a Hunky Man of Gondor. Except for the eyes, you'd hardly recognize the guy as Faramir!

The secret of the character of Faramir is in the Galadriel "conversation" with Elrond. She has a lot to say about man and what would happen to the ring if man got a hold of it. How Sauron would use the weakness of man to ultimately get the ring back.
Then in the next couple of scenes, Faramir says that he gets to show his quality.
He does show his quality... staying true to his nature, letting the ring go, and in the end sabatoging Sauron's plan. Sauron won't expect the ring to end up at Mt. Doom because he doesn't expect man to ever give the ring up. It's not their nature. Yet, what Sauron didn't count on was Faramir.

I especially like this one of Arwen:

Supposed to be Queen Arwen...I like it that she isn't smiling in some goofy way. It's a bittersweet postition she's in.

Ruthy, you shouldn't be cooking! Rest, we can take care of ourselves!
To: RMDupree
Sorry you are feeling lousy!
I agree with your hubby!
To: Samwise
I'm happy to see you in the new Hole! What do you think? The other one was getting so cluttered, it looked like the troll cave that Bilbo explored on his trip to the Lonely Mountain!
It had some pretty nice stuff in it though...

Thanks ladies, I think I will take a rest for a bit.
I really don't want to call my boss and ask to go home because he is on vacation and will feel obligated to come in and man the office. It's only the two of us, so if I leave - there is no one here at all.
I feel lousy, but I cannot justify leaving. Especially if I feel well enough to go sit in a theatre. That just isn't fair. :(

All of your points are well taken, and I did enjoy the link to the review. Sigh...more reason to see the movie again...and again...and again. Is that the mark of a good movie? It gets better and reveals more of itself with each viewing?

As I said to Hubby, I think what I enjoyed most about TTT was that it showed the nobler side of man. Yes, we are wretched, undeserving creatures capable of hideous acts...and yet...we can be noble and capable of great deeds and heroism. The elves are the noble ones in FotR, far superior to man, in looks and deeds. Man coveted the ring of power and was unable to destroy it. And yet...in TTT the task of the final battle of good versus evil is left to men. Imperfect, inferior men are the ones who are left--with or without hope--to battle evil incarnate.
To: 2Jedismom
I like the new Hobbit Hole. Sensible Hobbits you are--moving just enough of the old hole to make the new one feel like home.

It had some pretty nice stuff in it though... gee... thanks 2JM... I like you too...

Well, it was a nice place! I was really not wanting to leave it!
I just got in from picking up Matthew...he went to work with Steve today. Steve's job volunteers once a month to do water sampling on rivers and streams...Matthew went with Steve, helped draw samples from a creek and then assisted him in running tests on the samples. Got to wear goggles and gloves and the whole nine yards!
Anyway, they were done, Steve went back to his real job and I picked Matthew up and brought him home. Time for school!

Sorry I missed you! - I was away. Pretty quiet in the Hobbit Hole today. Today seems to be for lounging on the couch and reading I guess!

How I wish for a couch to lounge upon! My chair at work is quite uncomfortable and hurts my rumpus and lower back. I have ordered a new one, but buracracies being what they are I'll be at the chiropractor before I ever lay eyes on it. I'm very envious of your lounging and reading! Enjoy it!

FoTR... trying to get through a fresh read on FoTR so I can re-start TTT. Trouble is I am so lazy today, I keep reading for a bit, sleeping a bit, reading a bit... sleeping a bit. It is super grey and cold out here. Makes me want to stay under the covers.
