The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!
Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

"Yeeeeuck! I just found out (by glancing at the newspaper) that Clinton was in Minneapolis yesterday." The Clintons are disgusting (fell) creatures, for sure. "They were men once." though it is hard to believe, seeing what they have become (Democrats).

LOL! Very true!
(And I love your tagline)
Well good luck to whoever gets 26,000! I'll be out of the running as I'm leaving work now and still can't get online at home :-(
The Hobbit Hole Care Package Care Package Project #3 is Complete
Snacks/Junk Food
As you know, if you got your email, the third care package was sent out just a couple of hours ago. It fulfilled all of the initial requests that Chaplain originally sent. I wrote and told him that the packages were coming and it's contents. This is his response:
Good morning Kim, Wow! Awesome stuff is on the way! Joe (name used to refer to your "typical" enlisted soldier: Young, PFC, Male, 11B/Infantry, etc.) is going to like these packages! God provides!
The "air" in my Unit seems to be getting a little "steamy" the last few days. People are getting tired - Physically, Emotionally, Spiritually, 'Occupationally.' Please pray specifically that God would give me wisdom, knowledge, and love when I need it. Please pray that the Holy Spirit would draw soldiers to His rest. Tell everyone "Hello" for me. Most of all thank you very much for your outpouring of love and care. To you it just may be doing a little shopping and shipping. It is so much more to me and the soldiers here.
Thank you most of all for your prayers.
Clay in His hands,
82d Airborne Division
Kandahar Air Field, Afghanistan
"Renegade Chaplain"

"he really doesn't think people who work should have pets" Hey, but that's pretty much everyone.
'Course I've been saying the same kind of thing to my kids, 23 and 20, when they've talked about getting dogs for themselves. But I think they might do better with a pet once college is over for them. When they are settled and have a regular job.
To: Sam Cree
I got Zulu when I was still in college.... or rather, she got me. 'course I was a junior living off campus, and he was willing to subsidize her. Course, he was there when she showed up skin and bones and shivering. How could he not? ;~D

RMD: although it has been said better, we are very sorry to hear that you have lost your beloved Dino.
Recently our sup at work had to put his old Golden Retriever down, I went to a card store and got a sympathy card. I'll tell you, this grizzled, cynical ol' phart about lost it several times, reading the verses on the various cards. Needed to get one that had the right tone for work place card. Those animals sure do work their way deep into your heart, but it was very well received and all signed it even the one who had never had a dog or cat.
Here's hoping you won't wait the 4 years we did before we got another dog.

OT: I think Hair has the right idea, now where did I put that zoning ordinance.
We've had electrics for about 25 years now. Helps to have a town-sized lot though.

Heheh....my lot's not big enough for horsies and they'd have to like eating weeds. Now that the weeds are mowed, I'll have to drag more branches up to the street.

Hello!
It's been a good day!
The boys are at cub scouts...I'm drinking decaf coffee...pointless other than I have a bit of a cough and I hope the warmth will sooth it.
What is everyone doing?
