Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Rowwwrrrrrrr...thanks for that!

Well it is good to be here at this exciting time! I see that there have been about 500 posts since yesterday, this are getting slow what with the distraction of the situation room thread, not to mention the freepathon.
I also got some good news today, just in time for my birthday this weekend -- I expect that I will be getting a new computer by the end of the month, maybe even with broadband internet connection, so I will be around pretty much all the time after that! I plan to get a moderately priced machine, so what do you folks think are the most vital specifications for the new super-LCS computer?
To: Dawntreader
Hmmm...maybe at the MN State Fair in August? With cotton candy and a deep fried turkey leg?
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
Well congrats on the birthday and the new computer.
I just got two new Dells (but you knew that), but I'm not the one to give you the specs on what you need.
To: Corin Stormhands
I would have to have him eating something on a stick. You can get ANYTHING on a stick at that fair. Oh NO NO NO...forget the State Fair...he needs to go to the Renaissance Festival :-)
But I want to take him to the Ball of Twine and the huge Paul Bunyan lol
To: Corin Stormhands
I just got two new Dells Does this mean that 'Steve' is your son?
To: Dawntreader; Overtaxed
You can get ANYTHING on a stick at that fair. Fried Twinkies?
Wasn't that one of the things someone suggested MIGHT be like lembas? ;-)
To: Dawntreader; Corin Stormhands
I think I will write up a little 'press release' about the planned adventure, and I will ping the whole group when that is ready, so we can start deciding where he goes. I don't think we have to know from the start the full schedule, just one place to the next! I hope he goes as many places as possible, from the ordinary to the fabulous. It might be just as fun to see him at your family dinner table as at a exotic location, every leg of trip will have a different feel. I am picturing him photographed at street corners, malls, carnivals, city parks, restaurants, ball games and national monuments! The full range of Americana. I think it will be quite a fun thing, and was a heck of an idea.

I'm thinkin' maybe we could package him up so he'd be safe, and trek him to the top of one of the peaks in NH...get a photo of him in front of that spectacular view! Plus maybe at my brother's restaurant...or on our dinky little main street.
Would we all sign him or anything as we went along? Or just keep the web diary?
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
Get the best Dell you can afford now, you will only grow into it, and leave enough reserve for that broadband connection!
Glad to hear it! - It will be neat when you are back again more often!

Well they do have fried candy bars..*gag*...I've never been brave enough to try that though.

My birthday is Friday.... lots of Spring babies in here! June brides have children who are Aries! Irritable and stubborn! (and Finns are known for their stubborness too (sisu is the Finnish national characteristic). You have to be stubborn to grow up conservative in the blue zone!
To: HairOfTheDog; ecurbh
And we'll have to be sure to let ToRN know about this and give them a link to ecurbh's webpage when if finally gets under way.
