Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

done my part to help bring about Middle East peace. You've done more than your part for peace if you are married and there is peace in your household.

They have a great Q&A on their website. I don't know how to post a link. Go to richters.com. Thanks for the tip. I'll read up on some of my questions later. Since it keeps on snowin' (darn it!) I have awhile to plan!

"We like Willis here a lot, but I'm not so fond of Oldman. He was great in Fifth Element, but... well, he's going to be in the next Harry Potter movie and I'm not sure he suits the part. Of course I don't think I've seen him in anything else."See Oldman in "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead". You'll be a fan in no time!

The old place had more of a clay soil. It's sandier here and does NOT drain well at all. Hmmm.....The stuff that's doing well is in (kind of) clay soil. I've got it growing in a space where a maple used to be...it seems to like growing alongside the old tree roots. The stuff that lost out to the chives was in sandier soil.

Just got word... my retirement orders just came in... I'll be gone by Easter if all works out... got a great retirement, more than I asked for... I won't be around much the next few weeks... but I'll keep you posted...
Missouri, here I come!
Corin, I still expect to see you Friday... I gotta clear out my beer stocks and liqouor cabinet...

See Oldman in "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead". You'll be a fan in no time!I need to get that again one of these days. Watching it for the first time is kind of a "huh?" experience, and I didn't get around to watching it twice! We still quote it at times, though...or my younger siblings do, in any case.

LOL!! Were you on some thread that they might think you were her?
Tooooo funny.

The stuff that lost out to the chives was in sandier soil. You just confirmed my suspicion it seems. I noticed when I was in Colorado and the stuff was growing wild it was in a nice clay soil and ended at a sandy area. That was what got me thinking.

CONGRATULATIONS GNAD!!!! Seems like some more answered prayer here.
To: Wneighbor
Ooohhhh cool! Maybe I should naturalize with lemon balm.
To: g'nad

Well I've got an interview for the KC job on Wednesday....do I really want to move to Kansas?
To: Dawntreader
Apparently the moderators thought she was a troll...I think they can tell my DNS numbers or something...and banned her. She was doing it to a bunch of folks, according the moderator.

I like lemon balm! I like anything that will naturalize and keep me from having to mow a space.
I really am liking my spot I'm building in my front yard. I'm going to take some photos when I get plants in and then Corin or someone is going to have to tell me how to post one. But, it'll be at least a couple of months still.
I am filling in with some purchased "good soil" so I will put out some more lemon balm there. Also, am putting lavendar there because it's roots rotted in the normal soil. Lots of other things too.
To: Wneighbor
Well, once the mint is up, we'll give it a shot.
To: Overtaxed
do I really want to move to Kansas? Dig some of every perenial you have and bring them with you. You'll have a good start. We can moot at 2J's house.

Corin, I still expect to see you Friday... I'm plannin' on leavin' the office at noon. I have to stop by King's Dominion on the way up. Call me crazy, but I'm hopin' to get a weekend job for the summer. I need to set aside money for grad school in the fall and I want a truck.
Send me directions and a number.
