Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I agree... but Free Repubic has its fair share... most I ignore because I'd have more success talking to a wall, but I do try to counteract the lies they post as truths in case someone is lurking on the thread...

I wish we could look at each other as individuals rather than as members of a "group." If we did, then everyone could quit worrying about "equality" for "minorities," anti semitism, racial prejudice, etc.

But I'm sure that's too much to hope for. Maybe one day, when we're all intermarried.

Yes, a couple of co-workers and I were talking about that this morning as well. Not about the war, but about those of us who have lost weight being commented to by those who have not.

Yesterday the guy next to my office, who weighs roughly the same as I do but wears it all around his belly (and also is a diabetic) said "I hear you've been losing weight. Where did it go? I can't see any difference." I just said "Excuse me?"

Our receptionist actually had another woman say to her "Gee, you've really gotten fat. You must've gained 20-25 lbs."

Kathleen responded, "It's 25 and thank you for pointing it out bitch."

I hate stupid people...

Stupid state legislature is trying to raise taxes again.

Will your new goob'ner veto that?

Our RAT guv vetoed the elimination of the death tax. Wednesday the Gen. ASSembly almost over-rode the veto, but lost by 2 votes in the Senate (4 rats changed their votes).

But we kept parental consent for abortion and the ban on partial-birth abortion. The "Choose Life" license plates didn't make it, but I'll settle for the first two anyway.

I've got fried eggs and bacon ready to serve, as well as, grits, hash browns, sausage patties and sausage gravy! There's plenty to go around - actually more than plenty since it is FRIDAY! Thank goodness! This week has been absolutely atrocious for me and I am very glad to see it end. Grab some coffee, cocoa or juice and enjoy!

carton - Hi Smeags! I'm so happy to see you! I figured you were busy countering the nasssty, cruel Orcses that dwell in the dark recesses of FR. Have a fish or two before resuming the battle. BTW, you did see Andy Serkis' sign at the Oscars, didn't you? UGH!

I don't get too bent out of shape with the politics of Hollywood... but, I would love to debate them because most of them are ignorant of foreign policies... you can tell that by the signs they hold or what they write on their t-shirts.

I've learned the hard way that while it is fashionable for women to whine about their weight, the ones who do trim down become quite a target for snide remarks. I've also learned that food, nutrition, and weight loss need to be added to the list of things that don't make for polite conversation (along with the standard politics and religion...). It was quite a surprise to discover how hostile and defensive people can get when it comes to discussing nutrition of all things.

Yesterday, I wore a sassy little number that I haven't been able to fit into for years. When asked, "Is that new? I haven't seen you wear that before." I lied and simply said "Yes, it is" instead of explaining how I was excited that I had lost enough weight to finally wear it. Let her sneer, I thought, I'm a heck of a lot cuter than she is and half her dress size.
