Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

It's going pretty well, Alkhin. I'm glad I gave up sugar (mostly) about a year ago, not having it in my system is making me much calmer than I was 11 years ago for the last Gulf war. I hope and pray that all goes well, though.
I am not watching TV much, but am periodically checking the news/activism threads here, which are great IMO.
Might go fishing Sunday if all seems well, we are getting a 15 year old from NYC for a guest for a week whose parents can't quite seem to know what to do with. I know he wants me to take him fishing.

Good on you guys! We have been working on a similar project here. We are doing it through our school. The television cameras came and shot footage of the kids packing up stuff for the troops! The kids are writing the guys and drawing pictures for them. Some of them are quite cute. The classrooms had a contest to see who donate the most for the guys. Samwise Junior's class came in second with around 1,300 items. They got a coke and popcorn party. First place got a pizza party. We're going to win first place for the next go around!

Im certainly a lot more calm, since I have a better handle on current events an history and why things are happening the way they are. When GWI occured I had just graduated and gotten married...hadn't a CLUE...but even then I hated the peaceniks...sorry SOBs...*mutter mutter*
Are you a foster parent then?
Hair - house here is a wreck too...and I have this horrible splinter in my foot that is really deep...am dousing it in hydrogen peroxide and cleansing a needle point by letting it sit in a candle flame....but can't seem to get much further than that. Which is just ironic you know, sine we are planning to go to Enchanted Rock this weekend.
