Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Well, I done did it. Honestly, the English is so tortured it is hard to tell what he is asking (his father's opinion, too). And I don't think there's any such thing as a "state regulated school prayer" activist. Most people interested in praying don't want the state involved.
To: Lil'freeper
I don't think the state has any business regulating for or against prayer....if the students and teachers want to pray let them pray. The students who don't want to pray can kindly prove how "tolerant" they are by shutting up for a few minutes. :)

Aaaack! I hate posting threads. No one ever comments on them- it's embarassing!

I don't think the state has any business regulating for or against prayer....if the students and teachers want to pray let them pray. Exactly. I grew up in SW Virginia. In my high school we had prayers before most major events - almost all sporting events, we prayed a graduation and there was a Christian service club that offered a blessing every day before lunch.
That was "normal" for that community. Prolly still is...

Morning all. I work at a public school (okay so it's college level) my students are allowed to pray. Matter of fact, I was told that yesterday some were praying in the hallway about this time.... I gave a test yesterday morning, seems some of 'em forgot about it.

To: Corin Stormhands
Well, Solomon prayed for wisdom*sigh* i started grading those tests. Solomon had God's ear. I don't think those 2 guys who didn't study have His ear.

Morning!
My cousin Max underwent his first chemotherapy treatment last night. Prelimenary results indicate that the lymphoma is of the fast spreading variety and he does appear to have some in his liver. The good news is that the doctors are saying that he should beat this, so praise the Lord for that!!!
Also, praise our most Merciful and Loving God for the safe return of Elizabeth Smart yesterday! Hallelujah! I cannot imagine what her family went through since Michelle's one week disappearance drove us to the brink of insanity!! May the Lord continue to bless and protect all of us, in the Name of His Precious Son Jesus. Amen.
I've whipped up some omelets this morning. Ham, cheese and green peppers in it with plenty of delicious bacon on the side. Buttermilk biscuits are just pulled from the oven, so be careful not to burn your fingers! :)
I can fry up a few eggs if anyone prefers that and please feel free to help yourself to the grits and hash browns on the stove. Coffee and juices are ready to serve - you know where to find them by now.
Nothing low-cal this morning besides fresh fruit once again. Hmmm...Hobbits just aren't any good at diet food, are they?
Lucius - So sorry I missed you! Hope you can visit again soon!
JenB - Please do not get stir up the Dwarf's ire. You know they "axe" first and "ask" questions later. :)
Hair - Hubba Hubba indeed! Take pictures! LOL!!!
2J - Tell me how Pippin and Pepper are doing. Has she secured her position as Queen yet?
To: RMDupree
Glad to hear the prognosis for Max is good. I'll keep him in my prayers. I didn't have chemo, only radiation and that was bad enough. It won't be an easy time. Here's hoping and praying he'll soon be able to look back on this and say "I beat cancer!"
Thanks for breakfast.
To: Wneighbor
When I was in college, prayer was an active part of my study routine. I'd ask for understanding and clarity of mind before classes and while studying. And of course, before tests for the ability to recall and demonstrate what I knew. Never, "Dear God, please give me an A." It worked quite well.

Hullo! Good morning!I went over to their site for the first time, too... a lot of threads about the "stolen" election. Do they REALLY think it was the Florida Supreme Court's decision that lost them the election?
That, and the rigged voting machines. They are obsessed with the electronic voting machines. The machines are built by Repugs and designed to make sure we always win. ;~D
Oh - And * killed Wellstone's plane.
I feel good when I go over there. I can't deny that we have our own freaky fringe, but they don't dominate the conversation here, and ours get pounced on pretty hard. The freaky fringe is all that is left over there.
When I read the stuff about how they think Bush has taken over the government and there will never be another election because he will either kill all the opponents or declare martial law, I have a feeling they are mostly very young. College age perhaps. Young college kids discovering politics love conspiracy theories. If they are in their early 20s they would not really remember having a Republican president. Their perspective does not see that we have been having elections for years now, the presidency changes hands all the time, the pendulum of politics is designed to swing back and forth, back and forth. No they think it is over. Its a riot.
To: Lil'freeper
Ping people to it! It will drop away because people won't see it!
To: HairOfTheDog
OK.
Here's the thread: 1st Amendment Survey
I don't really have a constitutional scholar ping list. :(
To: Lil'freeper
I can ping CongressmanBillybob to it. He's a constitutional lawyer.
To: Lil'freeper
I don't really have a constitutional scholar ping list. :(
And I don't know who really follows the issue either, since I don't.
To: Overtaxed
Wow, thanks for the ping- I totally forgot the good congressman.
To: HairOfTheDog
Hey, Hair. Here's something to brighten your day.
