The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I still haven't seen that! - But then, I didn't see the Menace one either!

I actually don't hate Julia Roberts in roles. I don't hate her either. I just wish she'd stick to acting. She's good at that. When she tries to speak without a script, she's an idiot.
She was great in Ocean's Eleven with George Clooney, who should also keep his yap shut.

It's all PJ's fault I'm anti-elf! He made them too snooty and Elrond and Haldir are way out of character.

I liked Julia in Hook also. The movie was panned by the critics, but it's a family favorite. She got a lot of flack for playing Tinkerbell. Critics said the role was too small for her (no fairy pun intended). But I figure by that point in her career it was safe to have fun with a role. Didn't seem to hurt.

Haven't seen any of the ones you just mentioned. I don't see many movies! I find a few I like and watch those over and over again. Better the Devil I know, I always say!

Have you contacted your administrator? Not that simple. Admins say "deal with it". So now it's turning into a seniority powerplay and is moving up the chain of command. The latest: Ms. Switchboard was informed of the problem yesterday morning and is willfully deleting them, even after being asked to forward them to a safe account. Sysadmins on Ms. Switchboard's end are in her account trying to recover things and forward them up here. Ah, the joys of office politics. Ms. Switchboard is going down!

I find a few I like and watch those over and over again. Speaking of which....TCM (I think) is supposed to show Casablanca Sunday night....anyone up for a view/chat?
To: Overtaxed
Would they have them on at the same time? - or do they replay stuff for each time zone?

Outlook does not cause SPAM. Spam comes to your email address no matter what you use to view it! I realize that, however the bulk emailers utilize services that scan servers gleaning the addresses- including group addresses- to include on the mailing list. We get spam coming in to Army addresses that are for internal and official use only, and some that mimics a 'group' as the sender that is sent to the members of the group. It is hacking. Some clients, such as Outlook, have address books that are more susceptible to it than others. We got some spam with Notes, but there were mechanisms that could be implemented that made dealing with it manageable. Outlook is a headache- the only argument for it is the way it works serverside. I would never choose it for my own personal client.

Well, anything that looks and grabs stuff out of an address book is a virus, not just spam. and IMHO, the reason viruses hit Outlook the most is because it is the most popular. I don't think other systems are less susceptible, they are only less valuable as a target.
To: HairOfTheDog
Dunno....It's on at 8:00 pm here. Maybe I should check out the West Coast schedule.
To: Overtaxed
I will look now and see.

I'd love to invite you, but it is an official account (see my rant on external spam). Everything we're sending is on the up and up, technical questions, meeting times, really really big attachments and such- but we could very well walk to the next office and just ask her.

What is really twisted is I can't find TCM anymore! - I wonder if it went away or I am blind! Well, my brother has it on DVD and I am going up there on Friday. It would solve everything if I just borrowed his!

Ms. Switchboard is going down! Ooooh! Can we play? Mischievous group we have here!

What is Lembas? I was about to say Elvish waybread, but a quick glance around convinced me that would be too simple an answer.
I have never had some, but a pancake house I ate at once had them on the menu.
One thing I am sure of: It is NOT, repeat NOT, lutefisk of any kind.
What Race are you? Elf, Hobbit, Dwarf, Man, etc.
Man, with all his weaknesses. But there is also some good, and a striving for better things.
Do you like Elves?
More like awe.
Do Balrogs have wings?
By reputation, yes. But no one I know has ever seen one and lived to tell about it.

I'd love to invite you, but it is an official account... Well, okay. But if the need arises, you have my axe.
