The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

So quiet in here today.
*sigh*
I'm heading out in a few minutes. See you all later tonight if I can sneak online!
To: RMDupree; HairOfTheDog
Glad to hear your niece is alright. Kids, can't live with them ....
Now here's a tagline, but it doesn't fit.
War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend. - Faramir

So quiet in here today. I think we need to recruit more dwarves. :)

besides bran
I have new cookies today. *BIG GRIN*
To: Wneighbor
Cool! Sent you a FReepmail about that... hope you like them!
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
WOW, you were here after all. I was starting to think everyone was out happy today.
To: Wneighbor
Oh, I've been lurking pretty much all day, have been working on cleaning off my desk. I make use of the vertical filing method (throw it on the stack) and I have about 2 years worth of "files" to go through.... about half-way done, but once I finish then I have to prepare multiple tax returns, yippee.
How was your weekend?
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
My weekend was hurried and not long enough! But, speech was well. I too still have to prepare my tax return. I'm putting it off till next week. (spring break)
I think that vertical file method sounds pretty good. My method is more horizontal. The papers cover any and all horizontal surfaces available. randomly.
To: Wneighbor
oh no, i need a tagline now.

To: Wneighbor
Glad everything went well with your speech, and with your trip!
Rose and I have a business tax return that has to be filed by March 15, so I can't put it off any longer (yes, I am a procrastinator.) Once I get that done, however, the personal returns don't take much more time, so I'll probably file all of them at once.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Yes dear, you better get this one done. I usually try to have my returns done by March also. But, now that I've got this gig where I get spring break from work... it just seems like the perfect time to wrap up all those loose ends.

Time for me to go pick Rose up from work... will be back later, perhaps. If not, have a good evening!
To: Bear_in_RoseBear

I just finished painting the front steps....what's for supper?
To: Overtaxed
OT: after a good day of painting, order out, a pizza.
Know what you mean about non-treated lumber. I rebuilt our front porch in the late 70's, treated lumber (besides using penta with a pump sprayer or brush) was pretty much unheard of. So bout four years ago Sue and I ripped it all off and started it again, this time everything is CCA and the porch floor is milled tongue and groove CCA. All the 1 X 2 upright screen (not lattice) underneath is as well. Pile of sticks we assembled. Anyway, should last for another 35 years or so which by then I doubt we'll care. We started on Memorial day weekend, and finished up over the 4th of july, just the two of us. Sue went from a 16 oz to 20 oz hammer, I was using a 28 oz by the end of that job. Seems heavier now for some reason. :-) Sue stripped all the old paint off the railings (after disassembly) and used galvinized nails to reassamble. That was a fun project actually. The building inspectors drove by but never stopped to chat, I was renovating not building. ;-)
