Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

mmmmm....peanut butter....
Okay, I'm outta here. Decided to leave early. Jr. gets back from a band festival at 4:00 p.m., so I'm gonna pick him up so the Mrs. doesn't have to wake little one from his nap.
I'll be back sometime over the weekend.

French cooking is very rich, everyone who hasn't already sworn off should do it for Lent. If you have done so alreaady, that is your Lenten fast.

See ya!

OK - Swearing off French cooking is an easy one for me. I can handle that!

Was not overly cheerful or chatty until today, when I had sugary cereal and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.Well, there you go, sugar = carbohydrates and I've heard peanut butter is rich in protein. I bet your fingers are flying over the keyboard today!

RE: Make a Wish: Humor me. They will have their PR struggles, but I hate to throw the baby out with the bath-water when foundations that compete for donations have to face really ugly public displays and have to figure out how to please the most people, or at least please the most likely 'donors'. I'm not slamming them, just giving them a downcheck. They still do good work, but decided that pleasing the leftists was the line of least resistance. In doing that, they trashed one kid's dreams, and sent out a message for any others who might have the same dream. They also let it be known that an activity enjoyed by 40-50 million Americans is not fit for a kid's last wish.
I principally blame the anti-everything animal rights whackos for putting the foundation on the spot. They're the ones who stuck their nose where it wasn't wanted, making a problem for both Make-a-Wish, the kid, and any kids that come after him. I wonder how they sleep at night after pulling a malicious orc-stunt like that.

Do you think the Right donates to causes (besides the NRA)? Or might I be onto something when I say we are a 'zero-benefit' to try to please in a lot of areas?
I think we have abandoned and disrespect a lot of areas that have some merit, but have turned out worse because we aren't there. I could apply this theory to the environment, entertainment, and charity work. Republicans don't go into that kind of work, and disrespect people that do... so there is no counterpoint present in the meetings. I think that is why we lose, and why those things go wacky left sometimes. There are a lot of visible wealthy leftists on those boards. Are we even trying to be on those boards? The right has a lot of money too, but do we give it to those causes? My theory is that we aren't stakeholders often enough. If Linda McCartney foundation gives them a million dollars, they go a predictable direction, if Charleton Heston foundation gives them a million dollars, they go a different direction.

Must be them ugly pictures you keep posting of yourself. You'd be much more popular with the masses, Miss Hair, if you claimed this was you:

You're welcome!

mellow sends along this quote from WETA's Jon Labrie about the TTT DVD! At the end of his lecture (at the Games Devopers Confrence in San Jose) Jon Labrie said: "on the Extended DVD version, which will be released in the autumn, will you see more from the Isengard conquest -- our artists had so many ideas, which large Ents with small Orcs...in the film you didn't see half of it!"
