Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Okay, I'm outta here. Be back on later.
Now that the 3-year-old has learned to use the comptuer, I can't seem to get online until he's in bed.

Yeah, I don't like those too much either. I notice, I think, that salt air is generally helpful.
A very close friend of mine, another fishing buddy died a year or so ago, to my sorrow.
We were sitting around his house afterwards, listening to his now grown kids tell stories on him, as he used to tip a few once in awhile.
Used to be, if he came home late, inebriated, his wife would exact payment in the form of house improvements. Once when that happened, she got a new TV room added on.
Another time, I don't think that happened, but the kids remember hearing from their beds the late night conversation, and hoping it might result in a swimming pool.
But it was kind of funny, the first part of the conversation went something like "Good night, Officer, Thank you very much, Officer."
The cops had found him, sitting in his car, somewhat inebriated, on the side of the Palmetto Expressway, and simply driven him home, no ticket, no nothing. Times have changed, for sure.

Oh I was remembering it wrong.... I thought the war meant pie. OK - If he catches Bin Laden, he might announce that from the East Wing.
To: Sam Cree
mmmmm.... salt.
HA! - Yes, times have changed indeed!

You know, thinking about college, and the way we all used to act back in those days, I kind of like that song "Chattahochee," by Alan Jackson.
All that stuff about "a pyramid of cans in the pale moonlight," "talking about cars, talking about women," "learned a little 'bout love, a little 'bout livin'," it all kind of takes me back, kind of resonates, reminds me of being a kid pretty much.

I'm back. Still can't talk. But packed and ready to drive 300 miles to give a speech at noon tomorrow. Life's good isn't it?
please note, i can't have a tag line because i can't speak.
To: SuziQ
Too bad; Schweppes Gingerale and Captain Morgan Spiced Rum is a tasty combo! EEEEYYEEWWW.
To: Wneighbor
How will you give the speech, then, will you be OK by then, I hope?
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Got your Freepmail just a few moments ago. Replied.
I don't trust doctors. Someday, years from now, one may do an autopsy on me or something but I hope nothing else till then.
To: Sam Cree
You know us females. Stubborn to the bone. I WILL give the speech. Not sure how. But it will happen. I have given my good friend Martha a heads up though. She lives about 60 miles this side of Austin. She is going to have the Jose Cuervo ready for me at 7:30 tomorrow morning if I need it.
ought to be a good speech huh?
To: 2Jedismom
Don't hurt yourself!!!! I'm OK - I took three Aleve!

To: Sam Cree
I do like talkin' bout all those crazy old time... Did make me feel a bit younger today! - I'm still cool!
To: Wneighbor
Oh dear! - Good luck on your long drive, and I hope when it comes time to speak, that a sound comes out!
To: Wneighbor

To: HairOfTheDog
Going to Walmart then to my mom's to watch the speech...see you all when I get home. Steve is going to be working on his paper...not coming home till late.
To: 2Jedismom
OK - Fine... I will just watch the speach here. By myself.
I better go clean stalls!
