The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I just wrote this to the guy that manages David Spade's official website:

Saw this guy Spade on Jay Leno last night...they'd already introduced him, so I didn't catch his name and had to ask around this morning about who he was. (I don't watch much TV, because it's mostly stupid, including Leno, but was flipping hopelessly through the channels and just happened on his appearance).

Anyway, I made a point to find out who this guy David Spade is, because when someone says something I like, I want to find out where I can see more of them. And I loved what he had to say on Leno! I mean, after being inflicted by the stupidity spewing out of some of the pompous asses in Hollywood lately, what a relief to hear what I consider to be really funny stuff.

My husband and I, both middle-income nobodies raising our kids in Tulsa Oklahoma, were just roaring with laughter. That part where he was explaining to kids about "checking your room for weed in four months" and it not being there because your friend "Sudan" has it was just hysterical and actually seemed quite an accurate way of describing the current situation.

The SAG doesn't need to worry about blacklisting...we consumers will take care of that. And when we see something we like, you can bet we'll be supporting it. Now I'm going to go find out where I can see more of David Spade.

Oh ye of little faith...

You're right. I bought into a talking sponge, why not singing vegetables doing "Jonah"?

You don't think so? Well, I was kind of wanting some of that peach shine that was being discussed yesterday or the day before. I figured that would cure me for sure. Or knock me flat.

Well, I have a pretty strong gag-reflex where Tequila is concerned. (dates back to college "tequila poppers" [shudder] and the way my dorm-room would smell when we had splashed tequila all over the place the night before)

fix yourself a couple of Hot Toddies tonight and get to bed early!!

Unfortunately this is one of the worst parts. I have to teach until 9:15 tonight. Then I'm going to drive about 2/3 of the way down there. Which is 200 miles. I will get up in the morning and drive the rest of the distance then. I won't be in bed before midnight and need to leave by 8 AM. The 8 AM isn't bad. It's that long drive late at night while feeling this way.

Yeah? I can beat that one. I once drank enough Mararitas and tequila shots that I thought it made sense to have a woman I worked with call my wife and tell her I'd be late...

OT - I used to like hot Dr. Pepper. My mom gave it to me when I was a little girl. I doubt anything else would work like that.

Hair - I used to have quite a reputation as a friend of Jose. It seemed that back then I never had to worry about these voice losses either. The lemon and salt with tequila probably didn't hurt anything either. But, I've had lemon and salt for the last couple of days and without the tequila it just doesn't seem to help. But, hey, I'm willing to use the brandy. Whatever works. (for medicinal purposes only of course! but i may need it for weeks now if I start it.)

I remember vaguely that I was in the bathroom at one time with a bunch of my friends around me holding me over the toilet so I could throw it all up. They were debating whether or not to call an ambulance.

I am convinced I nearly died and they really should have called the ambulance. I was totally unconcious.

I bet a guy I could drink more than him...bet him a seafood dinner. He lost the bet and I jumped up, shouted "I won!" and that's the last I remember.

He did take me to eat the dinner, but I can't even stand the smell of tequila.

Yes! LOL...Cronk is hilarious. I love when he felt guilty about killing the Llama hehe. And that theme music, yes ROFL.

I like the diner scene where the Llama and the woman (can't remember her name) keep going through the doors changing the orders.

"Cheesy no likey!" or something like that. I really need to watch that movie again!

No doubt about it! Those days were very molding for me. I was in Austin then. The ultra libs probably polished up the radical right winger lurking within me better than anything else could have done.
