The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Positively Tookish.... I might have known...
To: Corin Stormhands
His comments were over the line. It was not heated discussion, imho, but mocking of JR... I read the posts.
To: HairOfTheDog
His comments were over the line. He posted a reactionary comment without thinking. But I doubt he was alone in the sentiment. I'll stop there.

All I saw was his "PC-JR" comment and asking how long the thread would be up. If there was something else I missed it.
IMO, that comment alone does not call for banning!

Are these rumbles of discontent that I am hearing?

Concern. Not miscontent.

I would recommend de-clawing (front only) in some situations. In my case the cat was taking swipes at my friends. She'd just walk up to somebody sitting in a chair and nail their hand or arm. The final straw was when she opened up a friend's hand like a surgeon. Blood sprayed everywhere. I had her de-clawed a couple days later, just in the front. It was either that or kill the cat. She could not be trusted.
Since then she's had a far better life, and she is fully capable of defending herself. Cats fight each other with the back feet.
To: Ramius
My cats don't attack people. I don't know. I think I'll try those nail covers and if those don't work then I'll think about what to do next.

Are you growing weary of our warmongering and our malcontent? ;-)
I'm just going to stay put in the warm, cozy Hobbit Hole!

I can just imagine the looks I'd get from my boy cat (Tam) if I tried to put those on him. He would NOT be happy.
But he HAS pretty much ruined my couch. So it'd serve him right!
BTW, cat #3 (the older one I adopted) has her front claws removed. Happened before my time, but in her case, it's probably a good thing. She's psycho...freaks out suddenly at little noises or sudden movements and would probably hurt someone badly if she had her front claws!
To: Overtaxed
Probably just the white (or are they clear?) ones! My kitties aren't the flashy types ;-)
To: Dawntreader
Good. I like a cat who prefers understated accents.

Certainly not before Memorial Day?!?!?!?!?!?!

Good afternoon, all...
Yesterday was a stay-at-home day, too much ice to go anywhere. Got some more ice last night, but it warmed up past freezing this morning (it never did yesterday) so that the roads melted enough for me to take Rose to work for noon.
Otherwise doing fine!
To: Corin Stormhands
I thought wearing white only had to do with Labor Day?
