The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

The fact that there is different colors just kills me. The picture just cracks me up!

Well....we wouldn't want them to clash with kitty's fur, would we? :)

who are y'all talking about?

Corin, for the most part. Entries are easier to make, and I can actually include pictures now, something I couldn't do when Blogger was free...but now the trick is figuring out how to do it. One glitch I am encountering is how to erase files that I uploaded. There seems to be some directions missing in that field....but hopefully I will get a more friendly response.... I'd use Moveable Type, except it wants you to download two extra programs into your computer and you have to have a domain in place already...and my hubby has HanSolo'd the puter so much any new download is viewed as an interloper. In other words, I would get fussed at for downloading 'crap' if I used MT. and he has plans of his own for our ISP site.

So the path of least resistance for me is to use an online server. STill, its not half as frustrating as Blogger. Every time I made a change to the template, it knocked the archives off and messed everything up. I gave up trying to follow their less than helpful instructions.

Oh my gosh:

Ok...I didn't need to know about this website LOL. I'm seeing a lot of things I'm going to want to buy for them! Oooo they are going to be spoiled. (Well more than they are already of course)

See Corin's tagline. People have been getting suspended/banned left and right it seems like.

My cats would LOVE one of those supersized tree thingies. I keep thinking maybe once I get my office all fixed up, I'll make it into a dual purpose kitty / computer room.

Thanks Dawntreader...will have to go look that one up

There *has* been a nasty little troll over on a Masonic thread...hope JR banned him because he was exceptionally hateful in thread where people were simply sharing information about the Masons. Attacked me as a 'bad Catholic' because I said I had left the RCC. Tried to subvert it to my will. HA! If I had really wanted to do that, the creepy little priest that I knew in college would have been blasted out of kingdom come.

I have a 2 level (about 2 feet or so) carpeted thing for my cats. They love perching on the top one.

The spraying thing works? A friend of mine...her roommate had a cat and the spraying never worked with that cat.

Marl tried using a sprayer on her cats, but she had to get up close, and the cats knew she was coming. I bought her a Super Soaker, so now she can nail them at 20 feet, and they don't see it (or her) coming. Now the cats run and hide if they see her touch it, even if they weren't doing anything wrong.

I liked (and agreed with) your comment. (I refer to him as Whine Mountain). But it was risky.

Don't want you to get FRaptured.

My brother had his cat declawed in the front, and she was/is fine. I have heard people say it is barbaric, but I am not sure it is that bad for the cat. Ask your vet perhaps. I am sure their toes are tender for a bit, but really no worse than any other surgical recovery. It saved his cat... training doesn't work when you are gone all day while the cat shreds the furniture.

Ramius? - Would you recommend de-clawing or not?
