Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Steve's been going nuts on the check-card purchases! LOL $3 here, $4 there... That's what kills us too. Not the danishes but the little debit card purchases. Those things just make it too darn convenient to spend money.
I think I may start leaving mine at home unless I need to get gas...

I use them only at the grocery store and the gas station.

I woke up this morning to hearing some sort of scratching sound out in the living room. I figured it was one of the cats letting us know she wanted in.
I got up and checked it out and it was my Josh trying to open up a box that had some plastic firemen and some fire trucks in it. He couldn't get the box open and when I got out there he tells me, "I've tried the scissors and my pocket knife...."
He's 8 and I didn't know that his grandmother had given him a pocket knife! It was just a little one so I'm letting him hold on to it. I think it makes him feel more grown-up carrying it around in his pocket. And if he feels more grown-up, he acts more grown-up.

LOL Matthew has a pocket knife...a good sized one he got from selling cub scout popcorn. (He's seven and a half, you know...) Anyway, he can only have it when Steve has him out in the shop working on something, and Steve is teaching him "knife safety". It's a big knife, though...too big for Matthew's little pocket!

It is 5:30 here.... I just fed the horses... I am going back to bed though. I was up late following this hillarious thread... Vim was there too I think! The funny stuff doesn't happen till 100 or so in... Howlin pinged me at 39. It really was funny.

Sometimes I think about this after writing these gasoline card account numbers down on my checks...
I don't memorize them and couldn't for the life of me tell anyone what they are...even I was being tortured!!

Howdy all... sorry I didn't get back yesterday... network is bogged down... it took 3 minutes to open the Hole...
I'll be back when we're runnin' better...
ksen and 2JM, I think a 7 year old should be old enuff fer a blade... I was carryin' one when I was 6... just gotta learn 'em what to cut, and how to cut it... or maybe it should be, what not to cut and how not to cut it...

Morning again. Checkbook....eeeewww!!! (I need to do the same).
What gets me is I will specifically say "do not use the debit card unless it involves blood and/or a life and death matter." But I'll check online....$4.99 - Starbucks, $5.00 - Kinkos....etc. etc....sigh...
2J, maybe we need to send 'em to obedience school (oooh, that'll get some flames...)
Just called Jr. to make sure he made the bus. School opened 2 hrs. late. Have another troll meeting later this morning...
