The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

We neeeds it, must haves it. Yes. 8{

I like the whole Bowery Boys genre too. I've been catching the John Garfield movies all week on one of the old movie channels. I've watched them all dozens of times when I was growing up. White Heat, ugh, I prefer him as the good guy. Or like he is in 1-2-3 (hilarious movie), or Yankee Doodle Dandy. I think he'd be a George Bush man, and a Freeper, if he were around today, you think?

If everyone in a bar were armed there would be no bar-fights.

Years ago I worked as a bartender in a bar where most patrons carried arms. (No it wasn't legal but they did) Incredibly, in the year I worked there we only had one fight. It was in the parking lot and very very late so the guys were REALLY bombed.

Yeah, I spent last week with my time off thinking I'd organize a counter-protest if anyone around protested. But, they didn't. And I was in W's neighborhood, maybe most of them knew better.

Ah, thanks for all the movie recommendations. I have another week and a half before my new job starts, so I'll check out as many as I can.

Gee, it would be great to get to sit and watch all those movies! Maybe I need to make a trip down to the video store this week too. It's fun to review all those oldies.

I remember seeing Steve's hand reaching for that door knob and it was like slo-mo for me...and I wished I had a gun sooo bad.

You would've shot Steve's hand just to keep him from opening the door??!?!?!?!?!?

Troll meeting's finally over. Gotta run. Back later tonite...maybe.

I would have been tempted!! I was yelling bloody murder at him to stop and he was still reaching!! When he finally woke up and realized what he was fixin' to do, he stopped, but he almost opened the door in his sleep!

Yeah. And I find myself more careful even in thought about how I handle situations. I'm probably more responsible in my verbal reactions to people and situations because of being armed than when I am not armed. Without arms I am more prone to shoot off my mouth and provoke heated arguments etc.

I just wish I had the same sense of responsibility and caution when I drive my car as when I carry a gun. I'm not a bad driver, but I tend to get careless, and tolerate carelessness in other drivers that would get a gun owner thrown in jail.

I find it amusing that liberals try to get guns outlawed, yet tolerate even morons like themselves driving around in cars that have the destructive power of a 155mm artillery round. Of course, with guns gone, they would have an easier time getting people out of cars, and onto bikes, as in red China.

I have burglar bars enclosing the front entrance to my house. The door bell is attached by the front door so we had to place a battery one by the gate. The preacher at the church I attend was determined to visit my husband at least once a week. My husband was just as determined to avoid him. The outer door bell disappeared. Problem solved? No, the preacher cut off a broomstick to reach the inner doorbell.:')
