Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

You can't really golf properly right now without them ;^) Do they come in golfer's plaid?
To: Lil'freeper; HairOfTheDog
Can go pick them up if they'd like. Would you mind picking up a sled for Jr. on your way?
To: Corin Stormhands
Poor kid! (the one with the tonsils, that is)
My present computer is a (relatively)new motherboard/processor and a case (A drive came with it) with my old PB components put in. I've gradually upgraded the components. I still have the PB HD (hey...it works!) Come to think of it....that HD and the monitor are the only original PB parts I'm still using. I was using the CD-ROM until I got my combo drive.

If the doctors office is open, we'll call and get on the schedule today. Not sure they're open since the hospitals put out calls for people with 4 wheel drives.
Jr. was five when we had this done. It isn't fun, but it explains why he's had so much trouble breathing at night. His throat is nearly closed off 'cause they're so swollen, so if he's congested, he has a rough time.
To: Corin Stormhands
Wrap him up on a heavy duty garbage bag and tell him to go "body sledding". We did that in college and it was great fun. You don't get bruised too badly if you are bundled up in lots of warm clothes.
To: rightwingreligiousfanatic
I knew you would get the part about the monkey...
To: Corin Stormhands
How do you break a sled?
I never had to have my tonsils out. Still have them. All of my friends had them out, but I never got sick that much.... Dunno!
To: Lil'freeper
er, my fingers are too cold to spell correctly...
wrap him up in a garbage bag. (Face exposed and all that good stuff...)
To: Lil'freeper
We used cafeteria trays in college. I still have one that he's used before.
A couple of winters ago before we got the sled he just broke, we told him to go get the tray by the microwave. About an hour later, he came back home with Mom's cutting board in two pieces...
He said it didn't work very well...
To: Corin Stormhands
In search of the brass monkey.....
Actually, I think this guy is looking for his SUV.....
To: Corin Stormhands
Heheeeee! We stole trays from the cafeteria, too. Only they were just plain plastic, not the fibered-up fiberglass kind. They got so brittle in the subzero cold that they'd break right under your rumpus half-way down the hill! Our favorites were innertubes and heavy duty garbage bags. That's bringing back awesome memories!
To: Corin Stormhands
Took him to the doctor and then the ENT on Friday. His tonsils are HUGEWhy are you surprised that an ENT's tonsils are huge?
To: Lil'freeper
**harumph!**
I DID NOT steal mine! It was bequeathed to me by a graduating senior. I think HE stole it...
I just told Jr. to take the innertube we have for the pool. It's cheap and wouldn't last long, but it's better than nothing. He wants something he can steer.
Wife just asked me if I'd take him out if he called around and found a place that had sleds. I dunno. I mean, even the malls are closed today...
To: 2Jedismom
Thanks 2J. I'll check out the file when I get home. I don't have any recordings of my kids to share. Does that make me a bad parent?

** harumph! harumph! **
I believe my pronouns were appropriately placed in that post.
harumphing generates body heat...
To: ksen
I don't have any recordings of my kids to share. We don't either. We had family over for the little ones birthday on Saturday. A camera was almost an afterthought. But Jr. got some of it on video.

"Now what does one do with a 1995 Packard Bell?"

Well, we didn't have a video recorder at the time, so I had to make do.
I have a couple of sounds of Matthew when he first started reading sentences. He was just three, and I could hardly believe it.

I think, now that I've removed all the valuable stuff, I'm going to wipe it all clean and start fresh with the back-up disk...I've got it around here somewhere.
I just don't know how to do it.
