The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Work is closed today! Go back to bed then....
Well, my first Daytona 500 was rained out. ;^(
Sorry about that OT. Maybe I shouldn't watch anymore races. That was quite the crash the #12 car had. It was weird how the thing just seemed to float into the air like that. And the driver was able to walk away, amazing....

Go back to bed then.... But I'm awake now!
A lot of cars used to flip before they paved that part of the infield.
The air must have gotten under the car after the rear axel went flying.

Is that a quilting ruler you have there measuring the snow? Yup yup omnigrid quilting ruler. We don't have a yard stick and those piddly 12-inch things would just get lost!
Well, we have 24 official inches on the ground- spectacular for the mid-atlantic. The wind is fierce and has been drifting the snow a bit.

Here is her Helpful Royal Highness Natasha T. Pussycat and the quilting ruler. Snow is up 6.5 inches from the sill.

Here are the same windows from the outside. You can see how it's drifting a bit. The cage lookin' thing is the exhaust from the fireplace.

And here is the Big'ol hubby in the snow. Don't mind the Ravens fleece- it was a freebie. I have been tasked with sewing a Green Bay patch over the raven but haven't gotten around to it yet. :)
There's one last blast left in this storm- maybe three more inches. *whew* It's been fun, tho! This morning we're going to go help dig out.

I've got an A drive from my old PB Legend 105CD that I can send you. :)NOW you tell me! LOL I'm just kidding. It wasn't so hard once I got started.
I actually think I got off all the really important stuff. The "biggies" that would take forever to email. Sound files are big.
I'm so happy! That old PC has been just stuck out there in our non-environmentally controlled shop, like being in a fancy garage, with all my precious sounds. Now I've got em!!

At least you have your pictures! We need to get a bunch of old family films transferred to something more stable.
So....what are we doing today? I'm finishing my coffee (I could make some more) and watching the neighbor's dogs frolicking in the sleet. I suppose I'll have to go out and de-ice the car at some point.

Funny thing, last night I was going over some of my old sounds files. I found one of my son at 9 yrs singing a song he had made up - 4 whole minutes - it is priceless! (it went something like 'everything, is treasure, to a bug' lol) He must have made that sound file when I first got that computer.

I am now very sure that during the ice ages, some kind of very warm pants were most likely in existence. Snowpants don't seem so out of place now, do they?

Good morning, morning hobbitses!
Sure is a lot of snow over in the East Farthing!
Haven't heard from any of the dwarves yet this morning! - Do we need to go dig them out? - Are they buried?
To: Corin Stormhands
HA! - There you are! OK - One dwarf accounted for!

My mom and dad just transfered all our home movies into a DVD.
We are probably just going to catch up on school...too sick to go to co-op and not sick enough to blow school off again (we did Friday). I feel a whole lot better...Joshua is almost completely well. Matthew is still a little down, but getting over it and it looks like he won't be developing any secondary infections, thank goodness.
Steve has managed to miss the whole thing. That's good, because can you imagine going down into storm sewers collecting water samples feeling that rough? And he has a presentation in class tomorrow.

Now what does one do with a 1995 Packard Bell?
- Tear out the guts, cut a slit in top and use it for a suggestion box.
- Use it as the largest desktop picture frame in your office. Put in lots of photos of your family and then place in on your desk in such a way as to keep the "boss" from seeing what you are really doing.
- Use it as a false front for your home safebox. Put in your cash, jewelry and bonds. When thieves break into your house and see the computer is last year's model, they won't take it.
- Use it as a paperweight during hurricane season.
- Use it as a pinata for adult parties. Stuff it with party favors and then take turns smashing it open with a sledge hammer.
- Use it as a doorstop for those stupid self-locking restroom doors at service stations.
- Tear out the guts, wear it on your head and go to a Halloween party as Bill Gates.
- Inject it with every known computer virus known to man and send it to your worst enemy for a birthday present.
- Tear out the guts and use it as a cooler.
- Take it all apart and then glue it back together again in weird, bizarre ways. Sell it to a museum for ten thousand dollars as "pop art".
- A little mortar, a tower, a little mortar, a tower, a little mortar, a tower. You can build a computer house!

Yes, I am here. We are sleeted in. Looks like we got about 3 inches of snow. But it's all sleet.
Jr. broke his sled yesterday. Wants me to go buy him another one. Yeah, that'll happen...
Little one is sick again. Took him to the doctor and then the ENT on Friday. His tonsils are HUGE. Could explain a lot of the problems we've had. So we need to schedule the surgery. Hate to do it this young. But it will solve a lot of problems.
To: Corin Stormhands
Snowpants don't seem so out of place now, do they?No....no, they don't. You can't really golf properly right now without them ;^)
To: HairOfTheDog
Do we need to go dig them out? We just finished digging our vehicles out. Can go pick them up if they'd like.
To: Corin Stormhands
Oh my! Please be sure and let us know when the surgery is scheduled!
I'd be a basket case. I get anxious when they have to get their vaccines!
