The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Yeah, 2 nights in a row of around 10 below 0 fahrenheit. The down vests folks wear up here must have more stuff in them or something than mine does. I notice that in these temperatures, you never see anyone "sauntering" outside, they are all moving pretty quick.
I am now very sure that during the ice ages, some kind of very warm pants were most likely in existence.
Did Rosie say it was even alot colder in Vermont?
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
"Hearing about 10 below makes me feel a bit homesick, though"Yeah, I am always missing the cooler temperatures of the Virginia winters that I grew up in. Doesn't seem like much after this, though, even though it routinely gets in the 20's there.

I watched a little bit of Music Man. I don't know if its because I am so used to the original, but I just couldn't take it. It didn't feel right.
Simpsons always takes priority on Sunday night anyway. And did you know The Simpsons has tied Ozzie and Harriet as the longest-running sitcom at 14 seasons? Woohoo! It will take the lead next season.

regarding The Music Man.... I couldn't get into it either. The intro bit with all the passengers on the train didn't have the same cadence that I loved.
To: HairOfTheDog
I've always had a soft spot for The Music Man. Maybe it's the bit about "76 Trombones", LOL.

I had no idea God played the trombone!
There is so much I don't know....
To: HairOfTheDog
I had no idea God played the trombone! Zechariah 9:14 "The Sovereign Lord will sound the trombone"
Matthew 24:31 "And he will send his angels with a loud trombone call"
I Thessalonians 4:16 "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trombone call of God"

Well, the hard part is over and I've gotten all my important items in emails coming in as I type. Consists of 18 emails with anywhere from 1-20 attachments (some are jpg or txt).
I'll let it load throughout the night. I've been working on it for almost 5 hours.
Now what does one do with a 1995 Packard Bell?

I shouldn't be, but I got a wild hair to get my old sounds off my old computer. It's just been sitting out in the shop, slowly falling apart and I finally just sat down and emailed all my stuff to myself!
You should hear some of these sounds! Matthew singing when he was 2 years old!

And Joshua laughing when he was 9 months old. Would have been a shame to loose those sounds!
It came out to just under 10MB total...not too bad but took forever on the 14.4 modem.

I know what you mean about saving those recordings. I have an audio tape of my grandmother, who died 15 years ago, reading stories and poems. I recorded it to CD and made copies for the rest of the family.
I am also scanning and archiving all our old family photos. That's a much longer process though. Only been at it 3 years so far, lol.

Funny thing is, when I was using this old computer, I never stored any pictures on it...I used Photopoint, remember them? I had all my photos there...almost 400 of them. Then I got the mac, which was a good thing because it was a 56K and when Photopoint got ready to shut down, I was able to download all my photos to my mac harddrive. Took forever but can you imagine with a 14.4? Now I have my PC and not too long ago, I took all those photos off my mac by emailing them to myself (no floppy even on the Imac). Then I burned them onto disks. That's what I'll do with all this data.

My CD-Rom is broken and my "A" Drive doesn't work...so I am having to email each file to myself...takes a lot of time. Any other suggestions?I've got an A drive from my old PB Legend 105CD that I can send you. :)

No. God's instrument is the whistle. :)
Good Morning, everyone!
