The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

You can't switch to a different dog! Well, I can't switch to a different 13-year-old either. I shoulda bought the model that remembers to feed and walk the dog. Jr. gets home at 2:30 p.m. Every night when I come in at 6:00 p.m. I have to remind him to take the dog out and feed him. Even then he take the dog out, lets him pee and hurries back in, and goes upstairs to his room. 5 minutes later the dog is telling me he has to poop.

You know in Red Dawn they landed right in the middle of the country...Maybe we should come up with our own battlecry like the kids did in that movie...."Wolverines!!!!"
Hmmm, how about..."Elevenses!!!!!" That might need some work....

You could just build a fence.

And the US lost too, didn't they? If I'm remembering right what I heard about it. I don't remember thinking that. The last thing you see is an inscription on "freedom rock" and a post script about "in the early days of World War III"...
It's a great movie.

Thanks for your very well stated #13949. Just wanted you to know I read it. I've never been a gun guy, but your point is well taken.... Maybe we'll get more into this later....

LOL You're on a roll today!

You could just build a fence.Yeah, have OT bring her cut up tree to Mid-Atlantic Moot to use for fencing material.

You could just build a fence. That's actually the plan for the summer. We've got to have that option when my m-i-l moves in 'cause she can't take him out.

Here's an email I just got:
A sign at a business establishment in Philadelphia, PA:
WE WOULD RATHER DO BUSINESS
WITH 1000 AL QAEDA TERRORISTS
THAN WITH A SINGLE AMERICAN
This sign was prominently displayed in the window of a business in
Philadelphia. You are probably outraged at the thought of such an
inflammatory statement. One would think that anti-hate groups from all
across the country would be marching on this business... And that the
National Guard might have to be called to keep the angry crowds back. But,
perhaps in these stressful times one might be tempted to let the
proprietors simply make their statement . . . We are a society who holds
Freedom of Speech as perhaps our greatest liberty . . . And after all, it
is just a sign. You may ask what kind of business would dare post such a
sign?
Answer: A Funeral Home
...and you thought morticians had no sense of humor...

I agree that it's better to be safe than sorry. I've got a few typical provisions set aside, but we're not going all out and buying gas-masks and atripine (sp?) shots. lol
Our problem is, if something should happen, we don't have a lot of choices as to where to go. We live in a 2 bedroom condo...no basement, no middle-room. There's a dirt crawlspace that goes under the unit, but I don't think that would make a good "hunker-down" area.
I suppose we could always head up to my mom's. She's got an old 9-room farmhouse...it was built in like 1903 I think. But, she's an hour away by major highway.
Ok...I'm just thinking out loud at this point. I'll stop now...lol

Yeah, have OT bring her cut up tree to Mid-Atlantic Moot to use for fencing material. We don't need no steenkeeng trees!!!!!
I have eighteen (yes, eighteen) trees that same size in my yard. They're just falling on us piece by piece...

Gidget did NOT recognize her and was hissing at her all night and into this morning. Well...I'm a one-cat household but maybe you should put Zoe in her own room.

It's a great movie.Yeah, I remember being in high school and seeing that in the theatre. I really liked it too. Hmm, I may need to go rent it.
DT, it is implied at the end that the US regrouped and won.

My mom commented to me last night that in the event of any evacuations, those with small children will go first since they are the most important to our survival.
I plan on sending each of the Hobbit Hole Dwellers a large diaper, bib and pacifier so I can sneak them out with me! LOL!!

I'll share it with my wife when I get home today. She's even more rabid than we are (I love that woman).

Is that one of those windup toy keys sticking out of Legolas's back? LOL!

Bathrooms will work in a pinch, Seamus. They usually have no windows in a condo and you may have to seal the toilet with plastic, but it will do!
