Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hmmm....a 12 oz bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips would be good about now. :) .I'm with you woman. Break 'em out.
I'm reading posts from earlier in the weekend as I sit in my office and wait for Myranda to call me to pick her up from drama practice. Reading about your tree removal adventures over the weekend. I'm sure I'm not to the end of it yet... but, I thought I'd let you know. I have one tree down in the back yard and one tree down in the front yard.
Alas. I've been tired of this flat dreary scenery around here since I move up here. So, Sunday, I had a brainstorm. Not a wildlife refuge for me... but I'm going to chain my pickup to those trees, haul 'em into the middle of the respective yards, pile up some dirt and compost somehow and plant stuff. At least it'll give some contour to my yard. And the last guy wanted $500 to cut and haul ONE tree. I don't think so. Lawn contour is better.

I believe she did. :) Sounds like even she's getting tired of the whole thing.

I'll probably be stepping over it just out of habit! I like that! I've been doing things like that for years. And people think it's strange. I think it just shows how adaptable I am to EVERY situation.

Elves, pirates, men-of-Gondor.... it all amounts to the same thing. ENTERTAINMENT for outstanding WOMEN!!!

What is this pic? - It is an artist creation from shots from somewhere in TTT or is it a new shot perhaps from RoTK? That is still his Ranger sword.

The neighborhood cats (and squirrels and birds) seem to like the downed trees.

I was listening on the way to work this morning, and made a mental note of the stuff to tape-on windows and over the chimney hole. We have it already. We also have 3 - 5gal water containers that we take camping a lot. I will fill them up and then not worry much more than that. We always keep candles and batteries and flashlights anyway, since we live at the beach, we get a lot of power outs.

The neighborhood cats (and squirrels and birds) seem to like the downed trees. Yeah. In my new neighborhood there isn't much wildlife. In a way, I miss it. But, some I don't miss too.
I'm actually the only one in the neighborhood that has pets I think. Our cats stay outside as they were accustomed to being farm cats before the move. They like hunting. I don't think my neighbors care much for our cats but that is not my problem as my cats are staying in our yard for the most part and not taking up residence or spending much time on their property. They are well fed and well mannered.
The dog Smeagol is also not liked by the neighbors. They say she barks when she is outside. Well, yeah, she has vocal chords. But, she doesn't bark just to be barking. She barks at people walking around the road or alley -- or THEM when they come over in my yard!

Most of my neighbors have pets. In fact, I give Neighbor Cat my kitty's leftovers sometimes. Neighbor Cat doesn't seem to be too finicky.

Well, I can't figure it out. The neighborhood has all fenced back yards. People COULD have pets. But, we're the only ones that do... except for one family across the alley behind us. They have 2 beautiful dobermans. Of course they go wild when anyone walks into back yards or the alley. I can imagine the kind of complaints those people must get but the dogs are really obedient. They're just watching. I think it's a pet hating area.

You have a lot of horsemen in your yard, and it looks like it is about to rainYeah, and I get all the horsemen... because my neighbors don't like critters!!! The rain was good for my plants. The horse poop too.
Seriously, I wish you lived closer. I could help you with some of that horse poop.
