The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

"I think our local weather weenies are disappointed that we're not getting snow."

Yeah, I'm sure they are. Lots of weather people, IMO, went into the field because they adore "weather events." I adore them myself, except when they mess things up, like ice storms. Dr. Neil Frank was my favorite weather whacko type, wish he was still in charge of the Hurricane Center. Talk about enthusiasm.

It's quite warm here, partly cloudy.

Good morning, Sam!

I kind of like weather events too although I get tired of people sitting in front of the camera telling me "Hey....we have a weather event!" all day. Give me some meaty stuff like what systems are colliding, barometric readings, etc.

Hehehe....we have to put the orange cones around it so no one will hit it and slide into the ditch!

Yeah, it is kind of annoying when news people keep saying the same sentences repeatedly, when they are trying to stay in the center of attention.

What are you taking pills for?

The pills are for the cat. She had her teeth cleaned last week and she's on antibiotics "just in case".

Don't know what the deal is. She didn't have antibiotics last time she had her teeth done. They were giving her some kind of IV thing this time, though (has a little shaved part on her leg)

There's less snow downtown.

Must be all the hot air 'cause the legi-gators are still in town.

Good morning all. I'm off work this week. :-) Therefore, we can sit and have some coffee together this morning. I'm going to enjoy this.

Good morning! Happy Monday! RWRF - thanks for the pictures! You guys are a very attractive group! Looks like much fun was had by all, too. Got a kick out of that picture of your son on the snow pile. We have a lot of snow here, but not that much! I suppose it COULD just be that we don't have any big parking lots, though...

Well, had a pretty good weekend. Sold my "old" mandolin, took the "new" one (which is actually older than the "old" one, I think) to my Friday night jam, where it was a big hit, and spent Sunday with the family. Also did a lot more playing around on the internet, thanks to DSL.
