The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

every time I'm in the car wash (usually only in the winter when they close the big doors) my overactive imagination goes into high gear and I imagine the brushes coming up over my windshield to reveal a psycho killer standing there. Or a face revealed in the steam right next to the driver's side window. Eeks. It bugs me more if I'm washing my car at night than during the day, but I still always think of it LOL. Ummm...thanks, Dawn. I feel so reassured now! ;-)

Ok, I have to break down and ask. Are you guys referring to ACTUAL cookies or is this in reference to something I'm not getting?
To: RosieCotton

See if there are any of these 'Touchless' car washes anywhere near you.I THINK I've seen signs for those. Guess I can keep an eye out.

Have you seen this?
http://www.sharewaredirect.co.uk/
It puts the notation down at the bottom (for Pennywhistle, it's whistle tab, though). But it also allows you to adjust what key you're playing in, how fast, which instrument (mandolin included) and what I like about it is you can play along as you learn a tune, then lower the volume of the instument, so that all you hear is the background.
You can use it with any midi. I "save target as" the midi I want to use and then open it using this program. It's fun and not a big program.

My dad is a Dem - GRRRRRRRRR! And both my grandmothers that are still alive. It's frustrating that everytime I go to the polls I know I can only cancel out one of their votes..... but somebody else helped me out in the last presidential election.

There you go! And maybe I'll bring some too! Plus, I'll try to bring the whistle, but Susan might veto that (she might want to use it in her classes)...

Niiiiice... and he's teachin' the childrenDid ya'll hear about that substitute teacher arrested in Ft. Worth last week for raping a 14 year old girl in front of the class? That was sick. Just sick.
To: Wneighbor
I heard about that...here's the article:
http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/news/local/5082137.htm
Something doesn't seem right about it to me...I can't put my finger on it, but something's not right. This kid that did this is 21 years old, a deacon in his church (?), has a two year old and lives with his mother.
Get a load of this quote. He complained to his mom that he was cold in jail. She said
""Mama's cooking, so when you get home you can eat and your bed will be warm," Lindsey told her son. "I love you.""
Just seems all a bit weird to me...

I wonder about that. I heard a radio interview with the mom last Friday. It didn't sound very convincing listening to her. er.. I mean... on radio you can't tell. But, she didn't sound believable. if that can be conveyed on audio.

We're missing something. 21 year olds aren't normally deacons...I'm sorry, I can't think of a single church that would have someone that young as a deacon.
His last name is different than his mom's. He had a baby when he was 19...
It just all seems a tad odd to me...

Don't want to be too critical. But, the mom sounded, less than educated.
