The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Yes, I heard that they are expecting snow in SA. We might drive up there, since my 15 yr old has never seen the stuff. (We did make a trip to Washington State once, to Snoqualme Pass or somewhere, but it was April and the only snow was black mucky-hard old melting stuff packed on the sides of the road. Didn't count.)

Things smoothed over any? Not yet. This morning I just acted like nothing happened.

Myranda didn't see snow until she was 9 years old. I flew us to Albuquerque to see in-laws and the snow on the mountains was still there. The look on her face at that age to reach down and throw the snow in the air was priceless.

So, it's probably a good thing it's you dealing with this and not me... LOL! I actually thought of you last night...
CS to himself: Now which of 2Js phrases is most appropriate here?
A. Blow it out your shorts!
B. Get over it you old cow!
C. You can pee up your whistle!
D. None of the above.
I'm not entirely inept at this. I chose "D." ;-)

acted like nothing happenedThat's probably best. I'm not good at stuff like this so don't listen to me!

Not yet. This morning I just acted like nothing happened. I always liked that plan. Of course people tell me that I have an inability to confront issues too. But, I just like 'em to go away. Nice and neat.
Hang in there. Whatever happens you can vent here.

I'm seriously thinking of trying to come up with the cash for that mandolin. I had it another night, which didn't help. It's not so much better than mine that I would feel pretentious for owning it (it's in just about the same price range, actually), but sounds better for what I do and has the ability to plug in for if and when I need that...
So...if God is OK with me having it, he needs to help me sell the old one, and fast! I guess I'll that that as a sign. In the meantime, the guy who's selling it is letting me hold on to it. I just hope I can find a buyer for my other one! Don't wanna lead the seller down the garden path, so to speak...

What about Ebay? That would be quick...start out with a reserve set for what the least you'd take for it.

Take a number and get in line. Step right up to the "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" Sweepstakes! Can I have Marital Bliss for $100 please, Alex?
Seriously though, my good news this morning is that my missus is back in for the Minimoot! WooHoo!
75 HOURS UNTIL MINNESOTA MINIMOOT!!
And I apologize to all if I've given a bad impression of her. She is a wonderful, happy person, an excellent teacher and an accomplished musician. A strong Christian, and my reason for living. I'm the introverted slug of the family. But that is changing thanks to Hobbit Hole Therapy.... ;^)
Have a great day all, I have work to do so I'll be checking in very sporadically....if at all....

Yeah...I guess that's an option. I'm a little nervous about auctions...maybe shouldn't be, huh?

Rosie, I'm so glad your day is a new and improved sort. I was thinking of you last night. It seems like whenever I've had to start new jobs I've had days like that. And my thing is - I'm always afraid they're going to fire me the very next day. But, usually, I get some kind of revelation during the night or in the morning and all gets cleared away. I told Myranda about your situation last night. She's had me for a mom long enough to relate. We prayed for you and sypathized from 2K miles away.
To: Wneighbor
I didn't have a revelation at night, that's for sure! I literally dreamed about one of the problems, in great detail. Ended up coming in almost an hour early because I wanted to get started on it again. But it's all fixed now! And it wasn't anything I could have prevented, I don't think. Just glad it's all done now.
But yeah...the words "six month probation" were running through my head a lot last night!

Well, if you put a reserve and it doesn't reach that reserve, you're only out what? Fifty cents or so? I think that's what they charge to post an auction.

She had normal things to deal with in her situation. She isn't used to you having this interest -- and there are a lot of horror stories about people that meet over the internet. I thought she sounded normal. And blessed to have a husband who was concerned about making things okay with her.
