The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I think it all started when Hair fixed Frodo... Um...not a good term to use in the midst of a conversation on spaying and such.

Spending too much time at C&F?
To: RosieCotton
Everyone is just stunned silent, apparently. Except for me, who laughed loudly in the silence. What's new?

I just play the radio. I am not a radio. But I play one on tv.

Ok, our homeschool group has this annual thing called "Stories and Such". What happens is the kids memorize poems, stories, and the like and then they have a night at the church where they get up and recite what they've memorized to the congregation.
Here's my question, my daughter would like to do something from LoTR, so what would you all suggest she memorize to recite?
I kind of like "The Ballad of Beren and Luthien".

To: ksen
How about the song that Frodo sings at Bree?

I think it's perfect! Maybe the Elvish Song for the Ents?
One of my favorites, but too short for this purpose, I suppose, is Quickbeam's Lament:
"Your crown is spilled, your voice is stilled forever and a day,
O Orofarnë, Lassemista, Carnimírië!"
So sad...

Heh, when mine were kittens and first came into heat, I had to keep them locked in seperate bathrooms on either side of the house. We had stereo yeowling for a couple of days before I caved in and took them to the vet. Lesson well learned.
