The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

LOL! Just what you needed. Another Feadog.
To: Overtaxed
Well, my favorite Feadog's mouthpiece split and I miss it! I've been playing my M2 in the car, but it wasn't as good as the M3 was... The M1 is nice, but very soft and makes a good house whistle...

So....do you have a favorite?
My favorite is my Susato VSB D. MUCH easier to play than the regular Susato, and with a very nice, pure sound. Still loud, but not horribly so!

I would have to say my Hoover. It sounds like what a VSB Susato would be like...easy to play, loudish...
But I still go back and blow in my Feadógs pretty frequently...I like the sound. The one that Bloomfield gave me really has a nice tone, but is very soft...it's like the one that sold for $38 on Ebay...he mentioned it was a good whistle and the price shot up. Then he felt bad and sent me this one for free. It's got a really nice sound, in my opinion, for what it's worth!

I have a Bloomfield Gen, too. I had that busted Oak - the one that had a cracked mouthpiece of the box - and he was looking for Oaks to experiment with, so we traded. It's definitely more...well...breathy than the others. Maybe more traditional sounding. I haven't played with it much, though.
Did I mention that I borrowed a nice mando from a guy here at work to play for one evening? Bad move. Baaaad move.

C&F = DU for whistles?
To: RosieCotton
Here's the pretty thing:

Loud, too. The guy who I'm supposed to give it back to is stuck at home due to the weather...so I can play it some more during lunch. And leave the case open until then so I can gaze upon it...

Is anyone else getting logged out when you leave the site? I've got my preferences set for "Convenient." This wasn't happening from here yesterday, but was from home.
Now, everytime I go to another website and don't leave a FR window open I have to log back in...
To: Overtaxed
I think it's just an extension of DU.
That's the problem with liberals. You seriously can't live with them. They have to go around being obnoxious and push every thought that they have on you.
Common courtesy is unheard of...I would never go on someone elses thread and trash their topic. I may want to (and I may come here and trash it with you guys where it's lots more fun anyway), but I would leave their thread alone.

Speaking of C&F, you didn't sabotage it, did you? ;-) Just tried to get there to see what became of that thread, and it's down.

Good morning. Got my class this morning all set up and working diligently on practice drawings for their final exam Thursday. Now, I'm sitting and twiddling my thumbs. Time to catch up on posts.
So, Good Morning!

I've played Mist Covered Mountains, but can't bring it to mind at the moment. I do like it, though!
Lately I've been working on Cooley's Reel. You had that somewhere, didn't you?
You know what we should do? We should come up with a list of tunes to practice for Entmoot. Maybe each of us submit five or so, and then work on those. What do you think? We could do it by freepmail or e-mail if it would take up too much traffic here...
Did I mention that mandolin's for sale? If I sold my current mando and chipped in just a little bit more...
I shouldn't be thinking about it.
