The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Bennington is a long way away!
But it's sort of like a Sam's Club?

Mmmm! I miss my Aldi's brand coffee! This that I'm drinking is ok, but I would rather drink it after supper or something...just give me a plain cup of joe in the a.m.

but guests don't go pilfering through every cabinet in the house, rummaging through unmentionablesActually, I hate to tell you this, but yes they do! I saw it on Candid Camera a few years back. They learned that a lot of guests looked in the drawers and medicine cabinets when they were in the bathroom, so they booby-trapped the cabinets with marbles that would fall out all over the place when opened. It was funny trying to watch people stick the marbles back inside, fail, and try to walk out like nothing had happened.

Darlin' I live in Washington state, where really good coffee does not come in a can. HA!
To: 2Jedismom
This place has about the best coffee ever! I think they're a northeastern chain, though.

Well, you don't have to be a member or anything...
It's inexpensive...no brand names. But I have found the items to be better than brand names many times. But they are odd in many ways that keep the prices down. For one thing, you "rent" a cart. Put in a quarter to get your cart...when you're done, you take your cart back to get your quarter back. That way they don't have to send a worker out there to gather carts all the time.
Also, no sacks. You can take a box (they leave them around) to pack your groceries in, but they don't have sackers. You can buy sacks or bring your own.
Also, they only take cash and some debit cards.
Prices on perishables fluctuate with the market...eggs may be 49 cent large eggs one day, 69 cents the next. Same with the milk and such.
Hamburger is always $1.69 a pound.
And they don't have as much variety...like with the eggs. You get large eggs...that's it.
Where I save the most is with things like OJ, flour, coffee, sugar, milk, eggs and such...basic items. Especially cereal!! Aldi's brand cereal is EXCELLENT and is $1.69 a box, except for things like corn flakes...they are really really cheap...like 69 cents.
The stores are really small. I can let the kids "roam" a bit and still pretty much see them.
Aldi's was a life-saver for our family! I really love it. They should hire me!

Good morning! So sorry I'm late!
Let me get breakfast on the table here real quick. French toast with maple syrup, eggs (scrambled or fried), bacon strips and sausage patties, buttermilk biscuits with sausage gravy and hash browns. Extra strong coffee for everyone (especially 2J!) along with the usual asortment of juices.
I'm trying to finish my sweeps entries that have to be postmarked by today. Rush, rush before the mailman gets here! LOL!
2J and OT - anything yet re: package?
Sam Cree - I'm glad Jeanne decided to let me post the pic! Yeah! Here it is:

Aren't they a cute couple? *grin*

Not me, honest. My barbed keywords are for this thread alone. (No need to air the dirty laundry...although the appraiser twit probably would have found it...grrr.)
To: ksen
I have read much of the thread! - I am glad they now will publish the names of offenders.... It has kindof been a passive-aggressive playground.
I was tempted to go back and find the Tolkien threads that were created the week we had someone saying mean stuff and ask who that butt-head was, but I decided to just file it for future reference!

Oh, hadn't noticed the twitching ears...I sympathize with them, though.

You have a point, and the 'guest' bathroom is kept spotless. Mine however... *sigh*....
So disorganized it might as well have been booby-trapped. Actually, I'll have to remember to do that if I ever have to go through this process again...Muahahahaaaaaaa Buahahahaaaaaa Muaahahahaaa!
To: RMDupree; Sam Cree
They sure are a cute couple! Good morning Ruthy!

I don't think I've ever posted a pic of Alyson on this thread, so I'll take this opportunity to do so! *shameless mommy grin*

I took this pic Monday morning before I went to have the pics developed.

What a precious picture!! Look at that big happy grin and she looks just like you!
Yep, I got the package...just trying to get up the nerve to use it. It wants me to delete my McAfee first...which worries me, because what if it doesn't work!

Hi Ruthy, that is a beautiful baby, as you would expect, after meeting the parents.
Jeanne says it's OK to post the pic with her in it from the mini moot, so would you put it up, if you still feel like it? Even though I look asleep in it.
Good morning.

Good morning!
I'm sorry I bailed out early (for me) last night, but I really was a bit out of it. Anyway, were you having trouble with your DVD, or was there something else you wanted to chat about?
Also, some advice should you put the violin up for auction on eBay... definitely set a reserve price on it, equal to the minimum price you're willing to accept. However, for the starting bid, make it $9.99. Part of what eBay charges you for the auction is based on the starting bid that you set; the lower the starting bid, the less eBay charges you. On a high-priced item such as the violin, people see the low starting bid and jump in, hoping to get a deal. Don't be worried about the price starting low, on a valuable item it will climb quickly, and with a reserve set on it you can be assured you will make your minimum at least. And, the more people tempted to bid, the more likely it is you will get some people who don't want to lose, which is what drives the price up.
Yes, I've sold on eBay, why do you ask?
