Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Maybe that's what some of the problem is. My 2 cats still aren't even a year old yet. They are still frisky little things. They don't wake me up every night, but sometimes it will happen.Amazing how much noise two cats can make, isn't it? Like a herd of elephants clomping around...mine still do it once in a great while, but in the winter, they prefer the warm bed!

"My cat likes to use the printer as a pillow."They are so bizarre sometimes, aren't they? I find it so funny when you have this nice large carpeted area, couches and plenty of room for them to lay down and get comfortable and they'll choose that one piece of paper or newspaper you have lying on the floor LOL!

Crate the cat?!!!! Horrors!

Oh my gosh!! He must love chocolate! Good thing he wasn't hurt! That is funny though!

I tell ya, it was him or me! Crating was HUMANE compared to what I wanted to do to him at times!
I'm just glad we've outgrown that phase...but I'm not sure I would survive another Siamese kittenhood, much as I want another someday!

It's funny....I have two desks in my office at right angles to each other. The one with the printer is in front of the window and I usually had stuff piled on it all the time. When I bought my flatbed scanner I was cleaning off the rest of that desk and she promptly took it over.
She likes jumping from the computer desk to the printer desk so I put a rubber backed mat on it because I was afraid she would slide off into the window. I ended up putting the scanner on the floor.

I'm a bit freaked outOh, don't be! I know it's hard to imagine (and very frightening for a first timer) but it is just the most wonderful time! And you think even while your pregnant that you love that little baby so much...can't love it anymore. Then you have it and suddenly you experience a love that is totally new. You just can't describe it, but I suspect every mom in here knows what I'm talking about. Imagine a totally new and different emotion than you have ever experienced in your life...that's it. I believe it is God's way of giving us just a little hint as to how He feels towards us...and He gave it to the Woman...what a gift!

Beautiful post, 2J...
What freaks ME out the most is that I'm rapidly approaching my 30s and still haven't met Mr. Right. I know I'm not really that old, but I do worry about it at times. And then I'm fool enough to occasionally read the singles threads here at FR, where the married folks basically lambast singles (especially the gals) about how EASY it is to find the right person, and those of us who haven't met anyone are losers, unrealistic, or selfish. Or all of the above. Grrrr!
To: 2Jedismom
Yes, that is very true! And I still might be freaked out, but I still want them!

"What freaks ME out the most is that I'm rapidly approaching my 30s and still haven't met Mr. Right."Me too!!! I'm 27 and I don't ever meet new people. So how I'm going to find my Mr. Right I have no idea. And then add to that that I have 2 cats and people get that look. (Single woman with cats!! Spinster City!) Argh...that makes me mad.

The computer should detect the drive once it is installed properly. Here are some things to check:
All cables conncected securely (IDE ribbon, power cord, and audio connector if it has this)
Also make the sure the ribbon has the colored cable on pin 1 (usually next to the power connector)
Master/Slave jumper settings - since your CD is on the same cable, it is probably set to master (you may need to confirm this), and the DVD should be set to slave. There is usually a diagram for the settings on the drive.
There are lots of good step-by-step installation and troubleshooting tutorials on the web as well, such as this one or this one.

I think by the time I got to be 28, had been hanging out with Steve for almost 4 years, I was getting sick of the game. I decided one day that that was it, that even though I was crazy about him, I was dumping him, just because I was getting on in age and couldn't be hanging around with him with no commitment. I had it all planned out, was going to tell him that I wanted a family and a stable home life and since he wasn't going to provide it, I needed to go find it for myself...and intended to go into every relationship from then on with that in mind and would let the next guy know that this was not fun and games any more and if that's what he wanted to not even bother. I was really at peace with the idea and felt like I was taking control of my life.
That very evening, before I could say a word, Steve proposed! Ha!
The thing is, a stable homelife is what I think most guys want...it's just realizing that's what they want that is hard for them.

I believe that is true, 2J. There're lots of nice people around of both sexes, but plenty of real jerks, too.
I got married just to get the woman, had no idea I wanted kids or anything. But when they came, I was literally stunned w/ how great having them was.

Thanks ecurbh, I've printed the directions out and will use them tonight.
